Owner description: Experience an exciting part of Canada's history by visiting this 19th-century fort with a sweeping view of downtown Halifax. Between May and October, the Citadel is brought to life by two historic regiments of the British Army - the pageantry of the 78th Highlanders and the precision of the Royal Artillery thrill visitors daily with live re-enactments. The skirl of the bagpipes mixes with the crack of a rifle and the assembly of recruits for the next foot drill. There's no shortage of authentic experiences to view and participate in! Kids will love the Xplorers Program - an activity book just for them. When the sun sets, it's time to experience the other side of the Citadel - join the Citadel Ghost Walk and experience the dark and errie lore from the early 1800's. Tours start mid-July and run every Friday and Saturday nights starting at 8:30pm until the end of October. Cash at the front gate.

I just want to say: don't come during the offseason. There's nothing to do and it's under construction. My 4 stars is based on what I expect it's like in the summer.

We've been to Halifax citadel. Here we enjoy the live demonstration of firing a big gun from the top of the citadel. We've also visited museums there which exhibits various war related history. We've taken photo with a guard in a traditional dress.

We visited the Citadel which was a short walk from our hotel. My grandsons enjoyed seeing the pictorial records of the old citadel compared to the present day. We all loved the view and could see why Halifax was never attacked .

The Citadel is located on a hill right in the centre of Halifax. We spent a couple of hours there visiting the two museums which were packed full of interesting exhibits - one on the history of Halifax and the other on the Canadian Armed Forces. Watched the noonday gun being fired from the ramparts.

You cannot leave Halifax without paying a visit to the iconic Citadel Hill museum. It is always a fun and educational tour through the grounds which overlook the city. After all of these years you will still see a daily military reinactment and hear feel as if you should duck from the sounds of the firing cannons.

Be sure to take a tour inside and outside and take in the beautiful as it sits atop the hill which dons a far view of the Halifax Harbor.
