On previous visits we had "done" Peggy's Cove and the Titanic cemetery and wanted something different. We climbed on to the Hopper in the pouring rain, (which tourist waits for the weather?) but it was covered, so we didn't get wet and thoroughly enjoyed the hour-long tour. First, we went around the historic city, then descended to the water and chugged around the harbour see a completely different perspective. Great fun.

The Barbour hopper took us into the harbor for a view of the city
Afterward they gave us a sightseeing tour of the city and the Citadel. The guide was very informative and gave us a brief history of Halifax.

We have been to Halifax numerous times and wanted to do something different. This one hour tour covers both land and water. The land side takes you around the Citadel, City Clock, Public Gardens and the downtown area. You enter the water by the Casino and go by the naval base and along the waterfront. Through the tour your guide provides commentary.

I would definitely recommend this tour! It gives you a brief history on many landmarks and events in Halifax, including but not limited to:

The Citadel
The Halifax Public Gardens
City Hall
Camp Hill Cemetary
Fairview Cemetary
St. Paul's Anglican Church
St. Mary's Basilica
Spring Garden Road
The Split Crow Pub
Halifax Central Library
The Halifax Waterfront
The Halifax Explosion

Totally worth every penny. It was interesting to hear history of the places we had already walked through like the gardens, but it would also be a great first activity during your trip to get a good idea of where you want to revisit and spend more time.

Reservations are available online but aren't necessarily required, especially during off-peak times of the year. From what I can see, this tour is not wheelchair friendly.

Thank Lisa F

What a great way to see and learn a lot about Sydney! Avery the tour guide did a fantastic job and made it fun and very informative! Plus it's pretty cool to go from land to Water!
