If you get a chance and are down on the Halifax Boardwalk visit the Beavertails. If you like sweet pastries or donuts you will love a Beavertail as it is a mix of both.

I had wanted to try a beavertail so we walked. And walked, and walked. A ways from the cruise ship, so I'd suggest take an Uber.
These are a pastry, like a flat wide, sort of flaky, donut-y... choose a topping and it is good.
I wish this place was closer to the port, but it was good.

Nutella beavertail in mid afternoon as we strolled the boardwalk. Hot, crispy edges and gooey nutella made this a perfect snack.

This food stand is about a 20 minute walk along the level boardwalk from where the cruise ships dock with lots of benches, signs to read, and memorials along the way. We went with the original cinnamon sugar coated ones, hot out of the fryer and oh so good! There are many choices to pick from with some picnic tables close by to sit. One stand also served some good looking pizza, a huge slab of a slice, along with a soda for under $6 which is very reasonable in a tourist area.
