We got this room through a Groupon offer that sounded great - wine tastings, whirlpool tub, chocolate factory tour - what’s not to like, right? Well, the room! Although the check-in process was excellent, and there was a $100 hold put on our card (not unusual in some high-end hotels, but certainly not usual for this caliber place), from then on it became apparent that there were maintenance issues. The elevator shuddered every time we used it, as if it was finding the lifting a tremendous burden. Once we exited to our floor, we found a dimly lit, smelly corridor leading to our room. The entrance door had obvious signs of damage in one corner and barely opened, but being adventurous, we entered anyway. The room smelled as if there had been recent fried foods occupying it (two nights and the smell never disappeared). One of the lamps next to the bed had no outlet anywhere near it so it was unusable. The remaining lights were so dim you had the impression that you were in a cave. No lights above the heart-shaped tub, which only a true thrill seeker would have used, given the poor maintenance everywhere else. We thought to open the curtains to let light in would help - and that is when we found the window that had a frame so rotten that a decent push would have separated the entire unit from the building and sent it tumbling to the ground below. Looking out of the window to the area below, the view of the indoor pool showed an open door, propped more than likely to allow for circulation. BTW - this door was never closed during our stay. Security? Also, there was a variety of trash strewn about near this door. Possibly there is supposed to be some work going on but we were there during the week and nothing changed for three days. As far as this being a honeymoon/romance room, by design, possibly but in reality a new bride would be very disappointed with this for the honeymoon. As we were leaving, I mentioned the window and door to the desk clerk. She said that yes, the owners knew and were going to have the windows replaced sometime.All-in-all, the room was ok, we slept well and it was relatively quiet. Of course, maybe there just wasn’t anyone else on the floor as it was not in prime time. Location is good, nice access to transportation to take you to the falls and attractions, but until they finally renovate the place, stay only if you get it on the cheap!

Booked the same day got to the desk to checkin .There were two women working at the front desk.A couple in front of us wanted to see the room so the women took them to the other room we waited 15 minutes for their transaction the other woman sitting at the desk did not acknowledge us at all.The lobby and Resturant were very untidy it looked like a family was living in the resturant there was baby gear and food all around. We checked in and were asked for $100 deposit on our credit card for damages after we paid for the room. I have never had this happen as they had our credit card why did they need to do this. We checked in the room was a good size but very dated. It was difficult to lock the door when we left the room. The box springs are ancient and stained with no covering. The bathroom ceiling tile was filthy and did not fit properly in the ceiling. There is no refrigerator there is an ice machine but no containers to fill it with. The next morning we found a black plastic container on the floor filled with some white powder (rat poison? Air freshener? Drugs?)Very strange I was glad we didn’t have pets or small children with us.Light bulb near bed burned out. It was quite cool and there are no blankets in the room. During the night the plumbing made strange noises when our neighbours used the facilities. The room itself was okay just needs some updating.
Disappointed that it was a chain the sign at the desk said it was privately owned but in the past chain motels have a set of standards to follow. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to apply at this property I would hesitate to book with Travel Lodge again.

We booked this hotel again this year after they found our team enough rooms to accommodate us on a long weekend. Paid $100 per night for three nights...great rate during a long weekend in Niagara Falls. Pool was absolutely perfect for the 40 degree days and used indoor pool and hot tub after first day of ball.
The hotel has all the necessary components...beds, cleanliness, towels, etc.
If you are going to hotel for a weekend prepare yourself...
Can't wait for next summer. ;)

If I could rate this even worse, I would.

We book a room through Groupon for our 5th wedding anniversary, queen room suite with Jacuzzi and romance package. And it was not cheap, over $200 for one night.

We arrive at the hotel and are seriously underwhelmed with the overall cleanliness of the lobby and the lack of helpfulness from the staff.

The staff at the front counter check us in. After they complete the check in and hand us the room keys, they then tell us that groupon overbooked and the room we paid extra for was not available, and we would have to take any issues up with groupon. Its important that they told us only after checking in as that allows them to try to deny the refund through Groupon, which is borderline fraud.

We go to the room and it is a complete dump. We go right back to the front desk and tell them about the room being unclean (dirty toilet, stains on the bedding and floors, etc) and tell them we want to check out and leave and would like a refund. We are again told we need to go through groupon for a refund.

At this point my wife is extremly upset as we had been planning our anniversary as our first night away from the kids in 3 years.

I contact groupon and after doing their research was told that they spoke with the staff at the hotel and the staff said we used the reservation and therefore they also cannot do anything to refund us.

Overall a terrible experience and I feel that this hotel essentially stole $200 from us.

Be very careful as the hotel is basically a scam. No humam being with any self respect would spend a night in this place.

Under construction while there. We were not told of when making reservation. No breakfast available, no microwave or mini fridge in rooms either. No discount or options ...told too late to change or face cancellation fees.
