My husband and I just spent the night in NOTL celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. We stayed at The Wellington House. I was a little apprehensive given its rating of #90 of #184 B & B's in town. We have stayed in many B &B's in many different parts of the world and this is definitely one of our favourites. I can not figure out why it doesn't have a higher rating. It's location is absolutely perfect - across the street from the Festival Theatre and 2 blocks to the middle of shopping and a multitude of restaurants. The house is spectacular - fairly new but built to look like an old mansion. The advantage is your have the ambience but all the modern amenities within a spacious room complete with gas fireplace and mini bar area with fridge. There is a lovely common balcony for guests overlooking the theatre. To top the experience off, Karen is a lovely hostess and served a fabulous hot breakfast. I will definitely return here and will recommend to anybody I know planning a trip to Niagara on the Lake

Room Tip: Only 3 rooms and all are big and nice

We've stayed at B&Bs before and have always regretted it- water issues, dated ambiance, creaky beds; however, The Wellington House renewed our hope and we will stay there again. Every detail was perfect, from glossy hardwood floors to fine linens on luxurious beds to even a lacy shawl on a white cane chair. Everything was absolutely perfect. Our hostess was charming, helpful, discrete and after showing us to our huge room with a skylight , offering information on the area, disappeared. I liked that. The room was well appointed and airy.
Breakfast was likewise wonderful. Besides fresh Ontario berries, a warm carrot- walnut bread, and a great granola, we were offered a choice between a brûlée French toast or a crepe with cheese, ham and asparagus. Not usually a fan of French toast, this one was light and fabulous, heated raspberries on the side. My husband was delighted by the delicious crepe.
Not content to rest on her laurels, even after 12 years, our hostess told me this was the third French toast recipe she had tried. No need to look further. This was great.
Al in all , a wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary. Wellington House is exceptional.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Wellington House! Karen is an accommodating, gracious hostess, and prepares scrumptious, gourmet breakfasts. The location is perfect, as it is a short walk to the downtown area and many wonderful restaurants. We will definitely stay at Wellington House when we return to Niagara-On-The-Lake!

1st B &B experience. Great location right across the street from the main theatre. Lovely area for strolling and minutes from Main Street in Niagara on the Lake nothing is too far. Large comfortable, spotless and well appointed rooms. Fantastic breakfast. Would stay again and would highly recommend.

Room Tip: 3 rooms, all beautiful. The suite is at the back so it is a bit quieter. Accommodates 4

Spent the weekend in NOTL with two other couples and were fortunate to have booked the three bedrooms at Wellington House, located at the east end of the downtown area. The convenient location allowed us to leave the car parked for the entire weekend.
We arrived mid-afternoon Friday and were greeted by Karen, who showed us around and made us comfortable in her house. We settled in and then took a very leisurely stroll to town for some provisions before returning to enjoy a play at the Shaw Festival Theatre directly across the street.
Breakfast was delicious and filling each morning, served at our convenience between 8:30 - 10:00 AM.
Each of the large bedrooms has a private bathroom/shower, small refrigerator, fireplace, TV/DVD player, and comfortable bed.
A small common area (with coffee maker and ice-maker) and balcony made for comfortable gathering for our group in the afternoon and evening. Each of the bedrooms had plenty of space to relax, too.
I have always been a bit skeptical about the whole B&B concept (not for any good reason), and this was the first time we have ever stayed at one. Our experience with Karen at her Wellington House has changed my mind.

Room Tip: All three of the rooms are large, with private bath. The two front rooms have king beds, while the back room mhas two queens
