We enjoyed the views from the patio, boats coming and going and passing by on a warm summer Saturday, while enjoying a gourmet pizza, could not ask for much more.

We got off to a great start with The Lighthouse. After a warm evening walk to the place, we were immediately seated by smiley, friendly staff and proffered a very welcome ice-cold water. Thereafter, these high standards sadly declined. Drinks were brought promptly and so were (some of) the starters. A long wait for the chowder meant that others had finished starters before the chowder had arrived. The chowder was a disappointment, overloaded with vegetables and with too little fish. The perogies were excellent!
We didn’t have to wait long for the mains which started arriving as the final clink of the chowder spoon hitting the empty bowl could still be heard. In fact, mains arrived in such haste that crockery and cutlery from the starters were still on the table (and remained so for some time). Some of the mains (pasta dishes) were a little oily; others (the burgers) were excellent; the gluten free pizza was good, others (Salisbury Steak included) described as uninspiring and one as inedible. The inedible dish was the Wonton Soup - a massive disappointment. The soup itself was unbearably salty and the ‘ramen noodles’ ($2 extra) appeared to be the sort that come dried out of a cheap supermarket packet... At least it was hot! During the main course two of the waitresses could be heard talking about customers on another table in hushed tones which felt a little embarrassing.
As the first few of our party began to finish their mains, their plates were briskly whisked away... whilst others were STILL EATING! Is this normal for Canada? Furthermore, the tables on the terrace around us began to be dismantled as large table umbrellas were then prossessed past us. We began to get a sense of urgency to get the place evacuated. This suspicion was corroborated by the fact that no desserts were even offered. “Would you like one bill or pay separately?” Seemed to be the only thing on offer after the mains. Coffee? Nope.
There was such a sense of closure that we scurried from the premises and into the night so as not to keep anyone any longer from their bedtime!
The website clearly stated opening from 11.00am until 9.00pm but who would have thought the 9.00 close would be so strictly observed!? If we had, we’d have happily booked earlier and enjoyed a more comfortable and relaxing repast instead of feeling like they couldn’t get rid of us quickly enough (still wondering why they agreed to take a party of 10 for 8.00 without warning us about time).
I guess we just got them on a bad night. I wish I could be more positive but feel a few things ended up letting them down. I’m sure they are better than this as the norm and hope future customers will have a more positive experience.
Hey, let’s end on a positive! The sweet potato fries and the chipotle mayo were both to die for!

Location is fantastic, food was good & if you can get there on a Friday their clam chowder was reasonable but lacked in seafood. Big recommendation? the sweet potatoe fries were superb. We also liked the Salisbury steak, rough potatoe mash with just a touch of garlic.

The very sad fall back was staff & although we got there at 8, with food service finishing at 9, we felt like we were rushed from the start. The starters were not served at the same time and the mains came out as some of us were still eating our chowder. They started packing up tables around us (although there were another 4 tables still eating) and even clearing plates although some of us weren’t finished. A sad end to what otherwise would have been an enjoyable family experience.

Sat outside. Great view. Really nice hostesses/waitresses. Food was just phenomenal. We got coconut shrimp, won ton soup, salad (which might have been right out of their garden it was so fresh) and sweet potato fries....all of which we shared. We actually had a hard time deciding what to get there were so many great choices. (we did go inside to use the restrooms, which were very clean, and inside of the restaurant was very nice...actually surprised us, we thought it would be more casual)
We were on vacation, but if we go up again I'll make a point to stop there!
