This tasteful transformation of couple of eighteenth-century stone edifices into a twenty-first century hotel in the heart of Old Montreal was a very agreeable place to stay. With well-managed, quality accommodations serviced by professional and obliging staff there is more than a touch of Europe in North America here. A touch that includes a few compromises, so excellence eludes it.

The good: we took a couple of the larger guest rooms (XL + L) for an extended family stay and they both proved to be pleasant spaces to spend time in. Very spacious, quiet, comfortable and tastefully appointed. Most things expected were there and they all worked as expected. The beds were supremely comfortable, the linens plush and the pillows cloud soft. The bathrooms are a stylish and mostly effective rendition of the genre and the showers are best in class. The included wifi worked well on all our devices. A continental breakfast of quality offerings was included – about which more below. Parking is taken care by an efficient valet service @ $36/night.

The not so good: the subdued bathroom lighting was adequate for most ablutions but turned shaving and making up into guesswork. The bathroom in the larger of our rooms (308) was quite small and could easily have used a couple of square metres from the living/sleeping space – with little detriment to the latter. The bathroom exhaust struggled to be adequate and just might have worked better if the intake had been clean.
The AC worked well but the fan was very intrusive in an otherwise quiet suite. The building’s single elevator struggled during busy periods. The continental breakfast is served in a small dining room that easily overwhelms during any sort of rush. The breakfast selections are very limited and the service area miniscule. The helpful staff do what they can to keep things moving but the breakfast facility was the least agreeable aspect of our stay.

This hotel is charming and cute and in the perfect Old Montreal location. We were visiting for just one night after a red eye, and the staff got us in to our room 2 hours early which was highly appreciated.

The room itself was fairly small but beautiful, though I found the bed to be far too soft. The bathroom was great - excellent water pressure.

We did notice loud music coming from a nearby club that lasted until 3AM; granted, I’m a very light sleeper, but would not recommend for anyone trying to get a quiet night’s sleep.

Would still recommend for the location, but we’ll opt to explore another hotel and neighborhood on our next visit.

This smallish hotel has comfortable, modern rooms - despite their traditional stone construction . Despite no closets, the rooms are equipped with modern armoires . Bathrooms are amazingly spacious, and stocked with luxurious Le Labo toiletries . The restaurant serves very spare breakfasts, but does have excellent coffee ! One co-traveller complained that Room #101, is adjacent to lobby and very noisy on weekend nights . What impressed me most was the warmth & helpfulness of the front office staff . Phillip was particularly helpful in planning our exit from Montreal to points East .

Room tip: Avoid Room #101

We have stayed here twice and will keep coming back because we love it so much. The rooms are lovely the beds so comfortable and with beautiful linens. We love the location and keep exploring the great neighborhood. The staff is so nice and it is our favorite place to stay in Montreal.

My husband and I love traveling to Montreal. He surprised me with a weekend trip to see friends and to see theater. We opted to stay in a part of town we usually miss. What a great decision. We discovered Le Petit Hotel, a gem near McGill University.

Our check-in was seamless. We chose the valet service and left our car with the valet. We stayed in a "M" room. The sleeping space was ample but the bathroom was a bit on the snug side. I might suggest a room upgrade if you can swing it.

We tend to choose hotels that are unique because we enjoy experiencing new adventures. This hotel has a lovely little cafe that serves a delicious European style breakfast, complete with pastries and fruit, that is free for guests AND each person who work the front desk is also a barista (a convenient little addition). Our trip was organized with very little agenda so we took suggestions on walking tours and restaurants from the concierge. Best possible move. We discovered two new restaurants that we have since recommended to friends, Luv, a vegan restaurant at McGill and Olive et Gourmando, which has a lively atmosphere, family style seating, and delicious food (perhaps the best mac & cheese I have ever had).

I would highly recommend this hotel and look forward to returning on my next trip to Montreal.
