We picked this hotel on motels.com because it showed up as being fairly modestly priced. What a scam--after various taxed and fees were added, the price more than doubled. Downright fraudulent! When we arrived, the staff person who runs the hotel was helpful and friendly, but she was the only person we ever saw, and she is not on the premises all the time. We were told repeatedly NOT to lose the key, as there might not be anyone to let us in late at night if we did--?!?! When we arrived back at our room our second day, it hadn't been cleaned, the towels hadn't been changed, and even the garbage hadn't been taken out. And we didn't "qualify" for breakfast (something about it non being high season--never mind we paid over $150 a night for the room! And we don't need to eat breakfast just because of the time of year we travel??), either. Perhaps someone can explain to me how having to cook, clean, and make the beds (and go hunting around for clean, dry towels) is a vacation? The hotel is convenient in that you can walk to many attractions and neighborhoods (it's about a 30 minute walk from Vieux Montreal), but it is also in a neighborhood with a very sketchy park near by full of homeless folks camping out, smoking, drinking, and who knows what else--my husband and 12 year old daughter went for a walk early one morning and cut through the park, and my daughter said later she felt pretty scared doing so. If you do stay here, just be careful where you walk and keep your eyes open--things can go from good to iffy fast.

Very close to good bus stops along main road Rene-Levesque, only 10 minute walk to Station Berri-UQAM and the great shopping streets St. Catherine and great food on St. Denis. You could also walk 15-20 minutes and be at the Old Port/Notre Dame - excellent location! Felt safe walking streets alone in day and evening.

However, due to the ubiquitous construction in the city this summer, was noisy in the room with window to the street. Amenities in room all functioned and felt clean, host was friendly and the decor here perfectly complemented the style of the house and the surrounding historic buildings. Breakfast is downstairs in the lobby, or you can eat in your room or outside on the patio. Typical B&B breakfast of yogurt, juices, teas, muffins, though the last day she made her own chocolate banana muffins - delicious!

Overall, if you're all about location location location and good price, this is a good choice.

Pathetic. Band aids on the ceiling. Area felt unsafe. Breakfast was at a greasy spoon 500 metres away. TV was a 1980s computer.
Bathroom was old but clean. I wish I had booked elsewhere.
Service wasn't great.

We spent three nights at maison brunet to visit Montreal. This small Hotel is located in walking distance to the old City of Montreal in a nice old house. The parking situation is a bit difficult in the area but our host was very kind and tried to find us an empty space nearby. Breakfast is not too exciting in a cafe three blocks away in the opposite direction to the old down. Our room was nice, large and clean but we could hear every word spoken in the room next to us.

Altogether, a good place to stay in Montreal if you are not a breakfast person.

the room was well decorated, nice place, not too far away from the subway and from where we have to take the breakfest (outside the B&B 10min to walk) the lady is very charming and helpful if needed.
room clean. the only problem is the ventilation which was very noisy, and the fridge too, but we can turn it off compared to the ventilation
wifi ok
i think price is ok with what we get
