Summers are hyper active at Place Jacques-Cartier which is surrounded by restaurants, animated by live performances, and is a hub of local painters and artists displaying their arts for sale.
Place Jacques-Cartier is a main center of our so sought-after Old-Montreal or Vieux-Montreal. It connects you to many of interesting alleys with plenty of shops and restaurants.

Very nice square for hanging out, reminded us of Faneuil Hall in Boston, there area street performers and restaurants and shops around the vicinity.

We love the European feel of the 'plaza' where you get to sit at the benches, people watch and relax after a day of exploring Old Montreal.

We walked quite a bit around the streets of Montreal in the area of Place Jacques-Cartier
. This is a great place to stop and rest for a while. The huge building adjacent to the square is beautiful ! The grounds are nicely kept and there is a number of restaurants nearby . It is a great place to view the surrounding area from the atop the square.

Street performers entertaining crowds, lots of restaurants, kiosks, boutiques. A park-like atmosphere in the heart of Old Montreal with benches for people-watching.

This market place was built at the beginning of the 19th Century and has become one of the liveliest places in Montreal, no visit would be complete without spending some time here and admiring the statue to Lord Nelson which dominates the square.
