The heart of old Montreal, the third oldest City in North America and a slice of Europe (at an affordable price)

IF you need a nice place to sit and people watch and get a bite to eat this is a great spot. It does have one nice Inuit gallery but, otherwise, the shops are touristy.

We grabbed a beverage and watched the lights come up on City Hall after walking along the port area. Great street entertainment, restaurants if you like tourist food, and it quickly became my favorite area of Montreal. Don't skip this and sit a while to take it in.

Place Jacques-Cariter is surrounded by excellent restaurants serving a wide variety of food, anything from pizza to crepes. Artists often display their work. There are benches for people watching.

A nice park with a few hiking trails and a lake. However, the water activities were not available as we visited on a week day in October. A ride along the lake shore proved adventurous as part of the way is a one-lane road and hit is pretty heavily traveled.
