The name is not obviously Brazilian, but the restaurant certainly is! We were expecting the usual great French-Montreal eating by the other reviews and the name, and were quite surprised to find a Brazilian meat restaurant on the premises. We called from downstairs, and they confirmed we found the right place. So, we went up and seeing how crowded it was, decided to give it a try. The place had a salad bar that was ... adequate, and the meat cooked on the long skewers that they carried around and carved off pieces - quite typical. What bothered me was that the server denied having house wine in carafes, until I pointed out to him that another server was delivering two to a table beside us, and he then relented and credited our two individual glasses of wine to the carafe, delivering one to our table! Also, the meat server kept bringing mostly sausage and chicken wings around, and I had to prod him to bring the steak, lamb and other better cuts. It felt as though we had to constantly watch the waitstaff to ensure that they were serving proper food. The meat was often well over-salted, and I could see the meat server generously shaking salt and other stuff over the meat at a side table after he took it out of the oven. Pilote is not your example of great Montreal service to which we have become accustomed.
