It is everything you could expect, nothing was a disappointment. All the rooms are one floor, the ground floor, that did not pose a problem to us, but for some it may, so it's good to know. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable. There is a pool which was nice, although there was no deep end. And there is a spa right next to it, with sufficient seating for 5. There was also a modern and well-equipped gym section. It is right on the water in the small downtown section of Shawinigan. Overall a good experience, I would go there again without hesitating.

Spent 2 nights here in September for a congress. Overall, its an ok 3 star hotel, it just needs a good remodeling.

Room:
The room was at the far back of the hotel on the 2nd floor. It was a very quiet area. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The furniture looks old and cheap (see pictures). The bathroom was very "basic".

Congress area:
The area for the congress, which is in the same building, is very good. Large rooms, good lobby area, overall a decent congress area.

Location:
I dont know Shawinigan, but it looked to be about as good as you can have. It was in an area with a few pubs and restaurants, right along the waterfront of a large lake.

Checkin/out:
Checkin and checkout were great. They had prepared things in advance of checking, so when we showed up it was very quick. Checkout was as simple as leaving our key at the desk and getting a printout of the receipt.

It could be an even better hotel if they remodelled the hallways (very dark) and rooms.

Thank you for your comment.

We are sorry that your room was in the last section that remains to be renovated.
Hope that you will be back when the renovated section will be done.

Had seen the hotel on the internet, but after a few instances where the photos were way better than the reality we decided to look at both the hotel and the room in person before committing.
The location is excellent, being a short walk into town or take a right turn for a walk around the riverside. There’s ample parking around the hotel both at front and back.
As we hadn’t pre-booked we couldn’t get the king bed executive room we’d wanted so settled for a two queen bed room overlooking the back garden. The price included breakfast which we didn’t really want. The room was a good size, well decorated and a nice space to spend time in.
Overall a pleasant stay, but we could have done without breakfast and booked a room overlooking the river.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have a geat river view, worth paying extra for.

We had a good night sleep, we had an executive room, with barn wood on the wall, no carpet :-) , room was clean, and beds were Queen size and very comfortable. Breakfast was not included , we went to Giorgio in the lobby , breakfast was very good and not expensive.

Room Tip: The executive rooms with wood wall and no carpet are very good rooms

We were looking for a room last week, because of the storm. Instead of booking one, we got insulted by the front desk agent at hotel Gouverneur in Shawinigan, our car had gotten stocked in the snow at the entrance and when we came in ask the front desk agent if he or someone else could come outside ( we are not responsible if nobody had shovelled..), he refused as he told my wife he would not come out to help us. he then asked if we had a room. She said something like not yet but we are up to pretty soon..and he got mad because we had not hotel keys with us and because we were on the hotel property, he talked to her with a deranged 'authority' .That was completely unusual and surprising for us to experience such bad ways.. we were at the last minute from a last minute decision to not defy the storm, so we went to another hotel nearby :the Marineau and everything was fine there. We wondered from what planet that hotel guy is..(a rude and unpleasant one from what my wife and I see (that enraged dog attacked her) that is disgusting.
