Spotlessly clean and tidy - simple accommodation as you would expect. we had a triple room which was a bit warm on a hot night as the window only open a bit for security

but what made it for us was the quality of the breakfast. Hot breakfast is served to you - high quality and then you choose cereal, toast, orange juice and coffee etc - lovely. Thank you also to the staff as my dad had a lie in and they kept a hot breakfast for him which was so kind

would definitely stay again as although bathroom shares there were lots of them and spotlessly clean

Brilliant on the telephone, in person, booking online, on welcome and cleanliness and tiptop on breakfast. Great sleep. Great stay. Would definitely stay again. Icing on the cake: cracking little pub a couple of minutes walk away..

This is a very well kept hostel in a quiet rural location. I had a pleasant stay and would definitely come back.

The hostel is 5-10 min. walk down country lanes to the beautiful Blaxhall Heath, which is the access point to the Sandlings Walk long distance path. The Sandlings Walk allows a safe walking to Snape Maltings and indeed all the way to Saxmundham Station. Where this route follows roads, traffic is generally slow and not too frequent.

For those without their own wheels, the hostel is covered within Suffolk Links Blyth, a very convenient and inexensive demand-responsive transport service, which can arrange transport to/from nearby train stations to the hostel and other destinations in the area.

Spent 3 nights at Blaxhall in a family room. 1 elderly and 2 grandsons (10 and 11). What an easy and uncomplicated place to stay. A footpath runs by the side of the hostel that takes you into the woods and heath with great trees to climb. So much to see and do by foot , car or bus. We spent a morning in Rendlesham Forest getting side tracked from UFO investigation to great play equipment. We canoed at Iken, rowed at Thorpeness, eat chips at Aldburgh and lots of great walks. But above all they met with other kids there and played and played. The 10 year old told his granddad that he had a "wonderful time". What more could one ask.

Our room was very clean and it was good that the bed was made up for us (often not the case at other Youth Hostels we have stayed at) as the mattress sat inside the bed frame and was awkward to access. The S/C kitchen was well stocked with plenty of room for our food items in the fridges. Took the opportunity to have YHA breakfasts which were good value for money. Warden was pleasant and helpful. Well situated for coast and country walks, Would recommend for staying in this area.
