Went for a birthday celebration and really enjoyed the food. Not posh food but lovely pub food. Huge portions so make sure you are hungry before you go. Very good service, lovely staff. Will definitely go back.

Stopped in for food today, ordered 'rare' roast beef Sunday lunch (3 off), and a mac 'n' cheese from the kids menu. To describe it as a hospital meal that had been overlooked would be a disservice to hospitals. The kids meal came out on a molten hot dish which would have left a serious burn on anyone that touched it, especially a toddler. After the meal we went to pay and clearly weren't very happy, the manager was taking the payment and didn't ask if we enjoyed our meal. When questioned if the beef was to be served rare, he confirmed it was, when challenged that it wasn't served rare he changed his answer to "maybe you got a not rare piece and well it's more medium rare", when challenged again that it was very over done his response was "that they had no complaints previously and that it was probably our standards being too high". It wasn't just the beef, veg was chunks of carrot and cabbage,no seasoning and I had to drain a pool full of water from the bowl. Potatoes weren't roasted well. In fairness the gravy was ok. Its horrible when food comes out and you know you've made a mistake, but then to have the manager being as awkward as he was capped off a terrible meal. I wouldn't imagine I will go back there in any kind of hurry and would recommend Sunday lunch in the rising sun in Pensford as an alternative.

We haven't been here since it changed from Mezze, but it was very nice, we were pleasantly surprised. Service was excellent. Lots of choice on menu. Food was good quality and portions were a good size. Fish and chips - lovely batter and everything tasted fresh. Came with salad, which wasn't really needed as it had mushy peas and tartare sauce with it. The only disappointment was the choice of desserts, they were frozen bought in desserts, like the ones usually on offer in Chinese restaurants etc. Kids menu was ok, £5.50 a meal, but decent portion size. They have spruced up the outside seating and play area, which all looked great. Trampoline is good fun! I would come back if only needing a main meal, if after desserts then I'd definitely choose somewhere else.

It was a beautiful place, and we had a fabulous room. All modern and lovely. Disappointing evening, as they had a wedding on, so when we got downstairs to the lounge bar we were told there was no evening meals being cooked. So my friend had to get the car and we ended up in a grotty pub for food, but when we got back they told us the restaurant had reopened and that it had only shut for half an hour!! Lack of communication. The new owner was most apologetic and gave us a free drink, but with me being disabled, it spoiled our night there.
Overall, a lovely place, clean and tidy.
Brekkie was nice but weird. Just offered full English, or scrambled egg on toast, or bacon sandwich. No cereals. No toast and marmalade after. Just the one plate of brekkie.
Nice place but needs some little extra's to make it nice.

We went here on a Sunday late afternoon for drinks and food with friends and young children. This pub has a superb playground for the kids. It would be even better if you could sit somewhere and also watch them play - as it is they are in a separate secure area.

The adult food portions were huge, but the food itself was average. The kids portions were not very big. We had a chicken salad (no dressing on the salad - just raw vegetables and salad leaves) and when we asked for dressing, they didn't have any. The roast chicken was rock solid, it had clearly been sitting around all day drying out. We were there late (at 4:30pm) but don't say you still do Sunday lunch if it is not fresh at all - I would have rather ordered something else. The roast beef was pretty poor - the beef tasted slow cooked rather than roasted. The lasagne was good and the kids scampi was tasty, but just not very much of it. The vegetables that came with the roast dinners were fantastic, just the meat that let it down.

I would come here again because of the playground, but the food was only average. If we had come when the roast dinner was fresh it might have been a very different story.
