Thankyou for your review, we are sorry that you felt that the place looked tired, we do our best to keep it fresh. A refurbishment is planned for the next few months, so hopefully that will improve it. We will get onto the cobwebs straight away. We are pleased you found the staff welcoming and helpful - we do our best. We hope to see you again soon.
We had pre booked and were walking the SDW, quick check in, a drink and a relaxing rest in the public area, shower, good meal, and a early night, good sleep, respectful guests, up early and a great full English breakfast, no frills it is what it is for the price, but no complaints, after wild camping it was just what we needed! Rested, fed and another day on the hills.
Thankyou for your review, we are pleased that you had a good stay, and enjoyed your breakfast. We hope the rest of your walk went well.
The YHA at Truleigh Hill is a brilliant stop especially if you are walking with a dog. Very friendly and helpful staff. The bell tent I hired was enormous with comfortable beds with bedding provided. Dog was allowed into the social space. So good to have food and drinks available right beside the Way.
Thankyou for your review. We are pleased you loved the Bell Tent, they are a great option, especially when travelling with a dog!
Situated high on the downs.Walkers gem on the Southdowns way. If planning to walk the Way make this an overnight stop to either camp or stay in hostel. The accomadation is clean , the food is delightfull and breakfast is a must ! If you need a peaceful weekend surrounded by beautiful countryside this is for you. I highly recommend.
Thankyou for your review, we certainly are a great stop for people walking the South Downs Way, and we are so pleased you had a great stay.
Truleigh Hill is a rare thing - an accommodation provider actually on the South Downs Way. At the top of a hill as well, so that when you set off in the morning, it's either a lovely, long flat stretch going east or downhill going west. I had a really good night's sleep here - and that's not something I often say about a youth hostel. Comfy bed, meals were substantial and tasty and a wonderful view down to the coast from the dining room. It was very busy since there is camping available and they run a cafe but the staff seemed to coping quite well.
Thankyou for your review, I am pleased you found your stay comfortable, and we hope to see you again in the future.
as first time visitors to a YHA' establishment (why did we wait so long?) we did not know what to expect - we were so impressed with everything at Truleigh Hill so conveniently placed on the South Downs Way for an overnight stay. Tired from a day walking a friendly greeting was just what we needed, excellent self -catering for our one pot dinner, and a comfy bed to sleep in after a hot shower was just what was needed and Truleigh Hill delivered! Highly recommended and we are all looking forward to our next YHA experience.
Thankyou for your lovely review. I am pleased you found your experience of YHA great. We look forward to seeing you again in the future.
