We were taken to this restaurant after a trip to El Chorro and on the way back towards Malaga. What a delightful experience! The building is an 18th century coaching inn, sympathetically restored. The atmosphere was lovely, true "olde worlde " Spanish architecture, blazing log fire but crisp white table cloths and great service. We ate a selection of different croquettes with fig jam, battered aubergines with honey, black pudding with pine nuts and apple purée and were recommended the migas. Actually the migas were almost a meal on their own!
I understand that they host weddings and parties here and I can understand why, what a lovely venue. Apart from the very large dining room, the outside enclosed courtyard lends itself very well to Summer parties outside under the stars. There are also 12 rooms for guests. A lovely lunch, lovely very Spanish experience.

It's not 5 stars but it's a very solid 4+ star recommendation. I'm very glad I came here and look forward to returning. The hotel (actually a large and beautifully preserved hacienda) with a restaurant inside is just about visible from the road, If you are travelling out of Malaga toward Ardales or even Marbella via a far prettier and much less busy road I would recommend a stop. It is off a small turning in the road and easily missed. Once off the road you have to follow an unpaved drive past rows of lemon trees. I would advise you to save it on your GPS.

It is a large and old property which reputedly played host to Cervantes himself. The dining area is large and spacious and it is obvious that the establishment does a great deal of business with wedding parties.

We arrived at lunchtime and were met by a charming hostess. You can have tapas at the bar or be seated if you so choose. They are happy to serve tapas at the dining area. My wife and I were hungry so we had a la carte. We started with some first rate croquetas and morcilla before moving onto a substantial and sensationally good rack of ribs.

Service was friendly and ticked over nicely. We were given a tour of the cortijo before we left and I must say that I would recommend it as a place to spend a night or two. It's remote but worth driving too. We really enjoyed it. A firm recommendation.

This restaurant is worth a visit for the charm and character alone, however you will not be disappointed with the food, home cooked food from the region with friendly staff. Sara our waitress was especially helpful sharing some secrets of the beautiful presa iberica pork cooked al sal y carbon. The tenderness and flavour is to be experienced. My only critism was for such a beautiful meat it would have been nicer to have something other than a plate of chips, a good menu choice of local fare in beautiful surroundings definately worth a visit if passing. If having starters its worth sharing a plate as they too big for one.
