The rooms are just great, clean and beautiful, large bed.
The pool is lovely...
The service, though, isn't good. It ruins a really nice hotel...
The location isn't perfect. It's on the side without the beach (only sea with no beach)... Walking to the other side with the beach is 10 minutes max...
Breakfast - poor...
Restaurant - great!

Fantastic hotel/resort. Was exactly what we were looking for - luxury resort living but not far from local shops, restaurants & beaches. The breakfasts were delicious & plenty of variety. The restaurant compared very well to local offerings too - just a little bit more expensive but quality & service much better than local restaurants. Great pool. Room was excellent and service excellent too. Would not hesitate to go back there if we were going to Krabi again.

Word of advice: our taxi driver from the airport didn't know how to get there. Turns out we needed to drive to a port & then get a short boat ride (10 mins) to get there as it's not accessible by road. Wasn't a big deal it's just that we didn't know this when we got in a taxi from the airport.

This is the place where everyone is on holiday, even the staff.

The grounds are awesome and you can't beat a grander entrance than arriving on your own private longtail boat right onto a tractor that chugs you through the swamp right onto the hotel ground. Stepping right over the swamp has the same effect as a gentleman taking off his coat and letting you step on it on the way over to someplace grand.

But I digress.

Rooms were comfortable and offer privacy, unless you have children who yell. Don't bring too many clothes. Wash them; the weather is awesome and dries your clothes within the day.

Pool is welcoming and random people will say hi to you since it's right next to the footpath. But getting service at the pool is like waiting for the cows to come home. From far far away. The pool bar is left unattended almost every time we were there (5 days, 5 afternoons, only once were they already at the bar. Other times we had to walk to the reception to ask for service.)

Breakfast was a disappointment. Really unappetisingly presented. Stick to the omelettes... at least you know they just made it? The burgers are also poorly presented but taste quite nice. We had a couple which we requested to be sent to the pool and had a pleasant meal. Unfortunately, we felt bad when we walked by 3 hours later to go look for dinner and our trays were still there by the pool... :S

Location is terrible if you are in it for the view... since it faces a swamp with mad cute mini-crabs haunting every corner of the sandbank. Ask for rooms on the second or third floor if you want a view from your room.

But it's definitely convenient to walk to Railay Beach (West) and Phrang Nga Beach (awesome white sand and crazy climbs). We found no problems with the location. Just walk somewhere else to get a better view.

The spa is the ultimate joke. Tried to book a massage for two on a Friday for the next day but was told the therapist "would prefer" a massage at 3pm. We had already booked an island tour and asked for another time perhaps on Sunday instead. She said she does not work on Sundays. The spa brochure says it's open everyday... Our enquiries at the front desk fell on deaf ears since the lady just said "please speak to the spa staff at the spa reception counter."

So all in all, you make your own enjoyment here. Really lovely room and pool but nothing much else to speak for. Railay isn't the best place for service I suppose. Thank goodness the climbing guides make up for it with their sincerity and thoughtfulness.

Oh! If you are wondering where to go for dinner, turn left when you leave the hotel and walk all the way to the end of the cement footpath. There is a small hotel restaurant buffet/grill every night that serves AWESOME seafood grill and chicken and everything else in between. =)

Room Tip: higher floor.

We stayed here for 3 nights in a Deluxe Elegant Room package - it was amazing. Included daily breakfast, 1 free dinner & a trip to Hong Island. Found the room well equipped, clean and very spacious. We chose to use the transfer service from Phuket to the resort & back - very easy and hassel free - drivers were excellent. We dined in-house one night (it was included in our package) food was nice but found the service in your face, so much we ate and ran. The pool is amazing, great to relax and watch the world go by.

I highly recommend the Hong Island trip - we got to see so much in such a short space of time. The guides were excellent and great value - included your lunch & drinks.

Just a short stroll (no more than 5 minutes) you will find an mixture of shops, bars and restaurants that are fantastic value. This is were you can get really cheap food & save some $$$ - and it's all bloody tasty. Free Wifi everywhere.

We also go an amazing massage each just past the last bar. Nice and firm and great value. An added bonus, we had Monkeys brushing their teeth for us at the window!

All in all, a fantastic spot with a laid back atmosphere -where you can relax.
