We we touring the Island for the day and whilst chatting to one of our expat friends whilst enjoying the superb view of his lot with a view. The subject changed to food and restaurants and he recommended Bahay Kubo Restaurant. We arrived rather early however the host was more than happy to welcome us in. This very charming host was more than happy to make conversation with us and it turned out he was to be a very well traveled, knowledgeable person and an excellent chef. The y food was of a high end quality restaurant the setting was very quaint and traditional. We were well looked after by our host's wife and their staff. in between courses our host Afonse was in and out of the kitchen and chatting to us whilst keeping an eye on our dinner being baked in his oven.e The food quality is very high and the taste of both the starters and the main course was nothing short of excellent.
Great food , Geat hosts , Great traditional decor ........what more could one ask for ? .............. Now that we've found a great place to eat we will return for more from a man who has a passion for good food and friendly conversation.
Many thanks for a very pleasant evening. Amor & Kevin
Thank you, Alphonse, for the best fine dining experience ever! Food is superb and incredibly affordable. I'll definitely recommend this to my friends and family.
One of the must go to places when in Samal. Very personalized service by the owner Alphonse and his wife, Jacqueline Laurent. The menu was the owner himself, giving detailed and helpful comments from the appetizer, to the main course and dessert. Choice of wine was excellent, what the owners personally drink. Schnitzel, turkey, salmon and tenderloin were great main courses. One of the few places serving healthy rice. Fresh fruit juice was excellent. The rainbow icecream was superb. Brewed coffee is something i would return for. My tip: come with an empty stomach!
When in Samal, drop by Bahay Kubo restaurant. Alfonso is a fine host and chef. I had the pink salmon. Yummy! The touch of almonds was weird at first, but it works! My friends had the burger and cordon bleu. They all loved it. And then for dessert...I am still dreaming of that Cassata! Yummy! For a full course meal, the price was not bad as well. A must try when in Samal!
