First, their booking system is not very up to the latest trend, no online booking (which makes it worst when you are not from Davao), we went to their office to book and signed the contract, I noticed though during our booking, the following: we visited their office on Dec 5 to book for Dec 11, 12 & 13. In the contract, it was written there, the last day of cancellation is Dec. 06, 2008 (which is a day after we booked) - I found this strange since normally, cancellation can still be done between 24-48 hrs before the actual date, thus, once booked, no chance of getting your money back.
Second: There were 6 of us adults, so, we took 2 premier rooms and added two additional beds since one room is only good for 2 persons, however, a friend of ours (without informing us ahead) went to Paradise Island to join us, here is where the problem started. Since, our friend is travelling alone, we requested reception to allow our friend to stay with us and just pay additional bed, but we were declined since the maximum capacity per room is 3 adults, so, what the reception suggested was to get another room for our friend, I then asked the reception, our friend can stay by the beach since he will only be spending overnight and we will just pay accordingly; the reception told us that it's not possible for our friend to stay by the beach overnight since he is our friend, he needs to get a room even though he wont be using it at night (all of us flared up, did you see the logic?) we were told, the maximum capacity per room is 3 adults, then told that our friend can't stay overnight by the beach since he is our friend, then, they told us, our friend needs to get a room even though he won't be staying there . . . I was really angered by lack of professionalism on the part of the receptionist in dealing with petty problems.
Overall, in spite I like the place, I still feel treated like hell believing to be in a Paradise (as their name suggests) and all of us swore not to recommend this place to any of our friends, we would have opted to visit Pearl Farm had we known this problem to take place . . . at the end, we only stayed there for a night and checked out the following day, of course, we did not get any penny back from the 2 remaining days left because it is in the contract that last day for cancellation was dec. 6 ( we went to their office on dec 5) so, even if we cancelled on dec 7,8,9 & 10 . . there is no way we can get our money back . . Our impression when we get there is that, they failed big time in their customer service and focus more on their business side .. . - MONEY . . .

I have just returned from Davao City back to the UK and cannot praise highly enough the staff and management of Paradise Island Beach Resort.
It is always (3rd visit) very clean and tidy, everything works!! and is of a high quality, the food served in the restaurant on the white sand beach to the attention to detail in the beautiful parkland area the cottages are set in.
From getting to the boat (banka type) everything is wonderful.
My wife (married on Fri 7/11/08) and I felt this was the place for our albeit too short honeymoon.
We rang the resort from the mainland as we had not booked a room (Cottage) and were told that there were some available so we hotfooted it (as fast as you can in Davao) to the Wharf where the security guard already knew of our imminent arrival thanks to two way radios and were greeted like long lost friends, (the last time we were there was Feb /March 08).
After the short crossing we were again greeted and bags carried to reception, very efficiently checked in and given a refreshing drink of mango juice (although it was powdered unlike last time when it was fresh).
We paid PHP 2800 per night (about £32 UK) for our cottage which was the Premier but a standard room is only PHP 1900 ( £22 UK)
Due to our impromptu arrival the Cottage was not quite ready ( i.e. they did not know the size of our feet for the complimentary slippers and had not picked fresh flowers to place on our towels).
Once this was done we were shown our wonderful cottage and told anything we wanted we could order through the intercom phone to reception.
We had a wonderful honeymoon there and highly recommend it to anyone staying in Davao City.
The only things I felt that could be improved on were the lack of tea (i,m British) / coffee making facilities in the room as well as a lack of mini bar, even just somewhere to store cold water, and possibly a swimming pool as sometimes the tide is out and makes it difficult to swim in the shallow water.

My husband, daughter and I together with 3 other friends went to Paradise island in samal island. Before you reach the place, you will ride a ferry boat going from mainland davao going to samal island. It is indeed a spectacular experience. It is a perfect setting for relaxation and rest, no worries because all the crew there are so wonderful! They are very accommodating, friendly and always with a ready smile. The place is also the best! White sand, peaceful, nature tripping. We swam with the fish, fed the fish, we had snorkeling, you name it. We will surely go back there. About their cottage, it is clean and nice. They surely live with their motto: You come as a special guest, you leave as a friend.

it is a good place to unwind and a good place for a family outing.we booked to stay for 2 nights and it is worth the money i spend.the staffs are great.they are so accommodating and the service is wonderful.
i highly recommend this resort.the only thing that is missing is a pool.but a small price to pay considering the service and the food and the beach is just great.
