We stayed for just one night in the Brewers Cottage, and were gutted.......gutted that we weren’t staying longer at this beautiful little get away in this idyllic village setting.
Firstly the cottage was absolutely beautiful, comfortable, clean, stylish, with everything you could possibly need.
The pub itself is just lovely, our evening meal was delicious, very reasonably priced and of course there’s ALL the Gins, and our breakfast, which was included in the price of the cottage was just yummy!
Highly recommend this place.

The Gin Trap has certainly gone upmarket since our first visit 15yrs ago, but full marks to the owners/managers for following the money; its often the only way these places can stay open & we'd hate to see such an atmospheric village pub disappear. We only stopped by for a quick pint & some lunch, so can't comment on the accomodation, but we were welcomed warmly & shown to an outside table in the expensively remodelled rear garden, complete with a very nice childrens play area. It obviously follows that children are welcome, as are dogs, both of which were in evidence on this warm day. We chose from the main meals section, perhaps a little more in the way of light lunches would've been welcome, but the food we had was excellent, & there was also a fair variety of ales, wines etc available. The staff were polite, attentive & wore branded clothing, a nice detail. Toilets were spotless, overall a very pleasant couple of hours. Wouldn't take my cash, only card, a rule i hope/expect to change as covid restrictions are stopped? Would certainly visit again.

A popular comfortable pub with good range of gins! Eaten there numerous times and not been disappointed. So recommended for a visit but get there early as car park quickly fills with high end cars and 4*4’s.

Stayed in The Stables, a two floor accommodation with smallish open bedroom at top of stairs. Ground floor spacious but gloomy with room to hang coats, coffee/tea facilities, big settee and board games.

Then you go upstairs. OMG! Sticking out and running diagonally into the room is a swan bath. It is about the size of a baby elephant. You wonder where the drips might go as the wooden floorboards are ‘open’. Worse is to come…..the room has two big pieces of faux luggage furniture. One is on its side next to the elephant. This piece is almost covered by the TV. Next to that is the ‘same’ luggage piece upright but so close to the wall double plugs above it that you can’t bend the hairdryer wire (say) in order to fit in its plug. Moving on….next to that and blocking half the drawers in this upright is an open easel ‘wardrobe’ for hanging clothes. You then move around to a low window with its deep shelf. Next to the bed are two tables.

Now where are you going to put things down? It’s a design nightmare. The swan bath should go, the easel put in that corner with a shelf together with bedside cupboards instead of tables. Put the 13 amp plugs upside down so wires come in from the top.

There is a small neat en-suite with a shower but two dispensers didn’t work. The bed was comfortable.

This room is memorable for all the wrong reasons but especially for its incongruous swan bath that dominates this small ill-thought out sleeping space. Of all the places in all the world (23 countries) this is a bedroom that certainly ‘sticks out’.

Now my three beefs that apply to all hostelries including this one (not all apply).

If you are dog friendly have an outside tap and short hose for washing muddy or sandy paws.

If you have a shower over a bath ensure there are safety handles for infirm or older people to step out.

Change bedroom 13 amp plugs for sockets with USB fittings - cheaply available everywhere. Guests don’t want to carry a 13 amp plug plus extensions for two tablets, mobiles and rechargeable watches.

From start to finish this was a great dining experience. Friendly and attentive staff - great service and an appetising menu which was hard to choose from . Two of our party had the brisket burgers with extra onion rings and both said it was the best they had EVER had. I had the lamb with the cucumber and dill salad and the fourth of the party had the ham egg and chips . All of it was delicious. Great surroundings and reasonably priced as well . Literally cannot fault it .

Other places in the area seem to be struggling with service during these COVID times. Nothing wrong with anything here though. We booked for lunch. Food was good, service was attentive and friendly.
