Description: Voted Country Pub Of The Year 2017 and 2018 by the CAMRA White Horse Branch, as well as Editor's Choice in the Good Hotel Guide for 'pubs with rooms', the Greyhound Inn is an 18th century free house, in the centre of Letcombe Regis, a pretty downland village within the Vale of the White Horse region of Oxfordshire. We are open every day, although we don’t open until 3:30pm on a Monday. Everyone is welcome here including walkers, cyclists, dogs and children.

A wonderful find - delicious food (particularly the twice-baked cheese soufflé), lovely staff and owners and very comfortable bedrooms. And of course a great breakfast. We shall return.

We go to the Greyhound quite often because it's a cut above the usual freezer to fryer pub grub without being a pretentious gastro pub. The menu changes very regularly but there are the standards that are always available. Dogs are welcome in certain areas inside as well as in the garden. The staff are friendly and efficient and food and drink is served pretty much all day every day.

The Vale of White Horse is one of those places that England does so well - beautiful, unspoiled and not overflowing with tourists. There are some lovely market towns and villages, in one of which is the Greyhound. We stayed overnight in a very comfortable room that helped give one of the most relaxing night's sleep I've had for a long while.

This might have been helped by a magnificent dinner from a menu that isn't overly long but what they do, they do perfectly. Their Cheddar souffle is a thing of beauty, almost needing to be held down to prevent oft from floating away. I fancied something basic after that, and haddock and chips with mushy peas fitted the bill perfectly. Had I wanted anything else the cheeseboard at the next table looked the ideal end to the meal.

What I also liked is that this is still a pub at heart, serving quality real ales by staff who knew their beers. If you're staying in the area, or maybe looking for a short break alternative to the better-known Cotswolds, this is definitely worth checking out.

A pleasant village public house evidently fairly recently refurbished and modernised internally and spotlessly clean.
We had Sunday lunch here after a walk in the area but were all very disappointed with the small portions served for the above-average prices; in the order of £15 - £16 for a main course .One of us chose the Trout which, frankly, was hardly more than a mouthful whilst others had the Roast Pork which was 2 small slices each, served with meagre portions of vegetables and no stuffing. This represented poor value particularly as the meals were not very tasty either.
