Just returned from a 7 night break to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary, in Skiathos, staying at the Magic Hotel, about a 15 minute drive from Skiathos Town but easily accessible to the bus network.
Superior room overlooking the ocean was very nice, immaculately clean. Large verandah with two comfortable sunbeds and a table and chairs. Four poster bed, en suite bathroom with shower and jet bath in the main bathroom. Separate sitting area with tv. Bathrobes/slippers available for use. Complimentary toiletries. Kettle/fridge/safe in the room. Towels replaced daily.
At the reception in the main building there is a library with plenty of books/magazines and a container with sun umbrellas/mats for your use. Pool towels readily available by the pool, beach towels were a two day use and available from reception (signed in and out).
Breakfast was buffet style. Fruits/croissants/toast/cereal etc and fried eggs/sausage/mushrooms/beans but only kept (luke) warm over ‘hot’ plates. You can order omelette, boiled eggs, poached eggs, scrambled eggs from the kitchen cooked fresh but this wasn’t explained to us on our first morning and it was only watching other guests that we realised this was an option. Maybe this could have been explained at the outset – at no additional charge.
The wasps were extremely annoying over breakfast and we came away from breakfast smelling of the substance they were using to deter them and quite often this overtook the enjoyment of our breakfast.
Bruno was a delight, a young man, extremely attentive, professional, made sure we had everything we needed.
Julian, I believe was the other waiter. He spent quite a lot of time each morning talking to other guests at the hotel, but we seemed to be devoid of his attention.
All in all, a good place to relax and unwind.
Upon departure, we found it extremely odd that the receptionist didn’t even enquire whether we had had an enjoyable stay at the hotel or if we had enjoyed our summer break which we found quite offensive and because of this, and probably only this, we wouldn’t rush back as there are obviously numerous hotels in Skiathos.
