The Three Wells Hotel is situated in a rural location. If you are seeking peace and quiet, as we were, you will certainly find what you are looking for. If you enjoy walking, you will find many nice walks in the area. However, if you are looking for vibrant nightlife, this establishment may not be for you!
We had no problem finding the Three Wells, although it seemed to be a bit further from the village of Howey than we had thought. A very friendly young man checked us in and showed us to our suite, which was spotlessly clean, well furnished, and comprised a large bathroom with shower, bath, sink, bidet and toilet, sitting area with settee and large Freeview TV, and the bedroom.
The food was excellent. Breakfast was comprehensive, with additional toast, coffee and tea being offered as soon as our plate or cup was empty. We could not fault any of the items on offer, but perhaps the stand out component was the scrambled egg. Or could it be the bacon? We ar enot sure! Our dinner, which was to celebrate a birthday, was also superb. My steak was accompanied by three enormous onion rings, and the only word I can use to describe them is magnificent! The sirloin steak wasn't too bad either! We also sampled the hake, which was very good. Presentation of the food was very good indeed.
Service was friendly and efficient. All of the staff we encountered seemed to enjoy interacting with their guests; without excoption all of them were willing to make time to chat. It was very civilised and extremely relaxing to sit in the lounge and have a couple of drinks in the evening, accompanied by the nearby ducks, swans, sheep and horses settling down for the night.
We would thoroughly recommend the Three Wells. It is a comfortable, well appointed hotel in the middle of some very nice scenery. Just a couple of small points would have improved our experience (although we still regard it as excellent). It would have been nice to have had a small table in the sitting room to put drinks on, and the water pressure and shower temperature seemed a bit variable.
But I am sure we will retunr when we need to recharge our batteries with a couple of days in the countryside!
