Met some friends for a meal. Waitress was very attentive and warned us about the delay for food as busy. Food was good - nothing special. Puddings lovely. It was a busy night but still a nice catch up in a cosy pub.

A few months ago my wife and two friends had an evening meal here.
The food and service was very good for a pub, so I thought I would drop in for a coffee with my son { we were walking our dog }it was 10.50 in the morning.

As there are a great many signs around I did not see any opening times. There were however lights on and people inside, so I attempted to enter the door, luckily I shut it before their large dog leapt at it barking and growling , we could have been seriously injured, somebody then approached the door without any concern for our safety and dismissed us with a wave to go away, We were both very shocked and dissapointed by the flippancy of the man who must be the Landlord ,a Lady did tardily come and explain that they opened at 11pm. I am very disappointed ,especially as its a Green King pub who say they like to welcome customers to their premises.

I am sure the Landlord will be pleased that I will not be going back to this Green King Pub.

We had my partners 60th birthday at The Red Lion. We had the pub exclusively which was great. The staff were absolutely amazing, real team work with no one waiting for drinks. The food was lovely and we were lucky to book Andy Robinson to do the music . Great night great venue . Christine and Ray

We ate here for the first time a couple of weeks ago with some friends. The food was amazing and the staff friendly efficient and attentive. We had a wonderful evening. So much so that we booked a table for 8.30pm this weekend with another couple.

When we arrived around the same time as we had been before- it was busy. Nothing unusual. We ordered our drinks, but then when we came to order, we were told apologetically that half the menu had sold out- including our favourites. This is just 8.30pm. We were kindly offered a coffee on the house to make up for it, although we were gutted that our favourite dishes had run out.
Two of us chose the trawlerman’s pie, thinking it would be something a bit special to make up for this. What a massive disappointment. This dish consisted of 3 prawns and half a dozen bite sized pieces of fish - no sauce- with slices of boiled egg and topped mainly seasoned mashed potato.
We had recommended the food in this pub to our friends because of our previous experience, and in one sitting succeeded in putting them off eating there again with us. Really sad, as we know how fabulous the food is, and super embarrassed that we took them there for a mediocre meal.
Please take the trawlerman’s pie off the menu, and replace it with a real fisherman’s pie packed with fish and prawns and a decent sauce. Not difficult to do well.
And please, please, get the quantities right when ordering produce in. It can’t be too hard to order slightly more of the popular dishes than you expect to sell to cover the weekend sittings. Most people reserve a table.
Selling out of one dish, maybe even two, late on in the evening is not great, but on a Saturday night half the menu at 8.30pm is frankly not on. It won’t put us off going again, as the steak and kidney pud is to die for, but our friends might not be so easily persuaded after their experience. A real shame

We popped in last night, hopeful of being in time for a roast at 7:30pm before the kitchen shut and we weren't disappointed. Great beers, great roast and lovely staff. Table service too. What a great little find - such a lovely pub and such warm and friendly genuinely nice staff - really made our evening. Thanks guys, that was our visit of many - thanks for the warm welcome and lovely evening.
Only one small tip - more cheese on the cauliflower cheese required. WE LOVE CHEESE!!!!!
