Visited here after exploring High Beach and Epping Forest on a windy Sunday afternoon. On entering the pub, it looks like a proper olde world boozer - old wooden furniture, low ceiling and a packed bar area. We were then taken through to a quieter restaurant area, which was more akin to a fine dining experience. The service was fast and friendly and we both ordered the roast beef, which came very quickly after ordering, no long waiting.
Served with roast spuds, parsnip, carrots, cauliflower cheese, a yorkshire pudding and some of the nicest cooked beef I've had in a pub for a long time as well as some very nice gravy (we even asked for more!). A large serving and all absolutely delicious, giving very good value for money at £14.95.
We just about had room to share a desert so ordered the apple and blackcurrant crumble with hot custard - absolutely delicious again! Will definitely be returning.
