Visited here after exploring High Beach and Epping Forest on a windy Sunday afternoon. On entering the pub, it looks like a proper olde world boozer - old wooden furniture, low ceiling and a packed bar area. We were then taken through to a quieter restaurant area, which was more akin to a fine dining experience. The service was fast and friendly and we both ordered the roast beef, which came very quickly after ordering, no long waiting.

Served with roast spuds, parsnip, carrots, cauliflower cheese, a yorkshire pudding and some of the nicest cooked beef I've had in a pub for a long time as well as some very nice gravy (we even asked for more!). A large serving and all absolutely delicious, giving very good value for money at £14.95.

We just about had room to share a desert so ordered the apple and blackcurrant crumble with hot custard - absolutely delicious again! Will definitely be returning.

Me and my husband held our wedding reception at the kings oak 2 weeks ago. We had the kings room which is such an amazing room and decorated beautifully for you. So much effort is put in by the staff to make sure everything is perfect. The food was excellent quality, all the 60+ guests loved everything that was served from the canapés to the sit down menu and evening platters. They were very impressed which was lovely for us to hear. The staff laid out the table plan perfectly and all the tables looked amazing. The chocolate fountain is great and was a massive hit with everyone. Everything was very well organised and honestly the whole evening was perfect there is nothing we would of changed and I'm so pleased I chose to hold our wedding reception there. The whole venue is well presented and the surroundings were lovely for us to have photos because of the view and the lights in the evening. I would like to say a special thank you to Skye who was truly lovely the whole way through with all the planning and organising of the day to making sure everything was perfect and on point, she just went above and beyond! Anyone considering using this venue for any event I can't recommend it enough as they made sure our day was just totally brilliant. Next big event we have we know where we'll be holding it.

Held my daughters bat mitzvah here last weekend and it was amazing. The venue is perfect the events staff especially Skye and Paula are the most brilliant people to deal with and go above and beyond in the planning and organising. The food was fantastic and absolutely loads of it and the whole event went to plan. I can’t recommend this place highly enough.

We visited this pub for Sunday lunch. We ordered food to a very unresponsive waitress. Despite repeated requests for our food, TWO HOURS later we were finally served the wrong food! It took another thirty minutes to serve our original order and we were told that our food had been served to somebody else. We received no apology. Do not eat here. The food, once received, was really average.
