Abercorn Inn Vancouver Airport

Came to Vancouver for an overnight stay. Left out the following day on a cruise. While fairly close to the airport, the cruiseline dock was a long way from the motel. Over a 20 minute drive but we were provided with a shuttle and transfer to and from the motel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean with all the usual ammentities. The morning breakfast was the usual fare of this class of motel. All in all, I would stay here again.

I book this hotel because I stayed here many times ONLY because it was a Best Western. But when I showed up earlier this week, I found out it was no longer a Best Western plus they increased their prices to a ridiculous price.

Since it was early evening I was unable to find another hotel or Best Western with availability. So I was screwed. It cost over $600 for two nights. Which is rediculous because it is a crappy and old hotel with crappy furnishings and old carpeting etc.

If your booking this hotel because it is close to the airport, I recommend the Holiday Inn Express accross the street. Much more up to date and better value for the money.

Like I said I stayed at this location many times before only because it was a Best Western and wanted my points. But only during business trips. I would (and will) never stay here on personal trips with my wife.

Adding insult to injury, the manager was supposed to see about maybe doing something for me price wise but did zip. Plus, another slap in the face, they still use Best Western branded items in the rooms.

Also, this hotel caters to large asian tour groups... So breakfast is horribly full noisy crowds.

Stayed here last week for business and here are the positives and negatives

Positives
1. Good location for the airport
2. Friendly and accommodating staff
3. Good sized rooms
4. Clean

Negatives
1. Have to use paper plates and plastic cutlery for breakfast
2. Breakfast selection was not great
3. This is not the fault of the hotel but 2 out of 3 mornings there were loud people in the hallways shouting and knocking on doors
4. Very old fashioned - in need of an update
5. Wanted to sit outside and have a drink as it was a nice day but wasn't able to because they are not licensed for outside
6. Boiling hot rooms with loud air conditioning

I don't think I would return to this hotel unfortunately.

I would reconsider it if they got rid of the disposable plates and cutlery and had a refurb.

Have stayed at this hotel before as it was near the airport and was not disappointed again. This hotel is not a Best Western hotel anymore and is now Chinese owned. It is a traditionally styled hotel in quite a modern area, so it looks a bit out of place at first, but the staff and the service we had was great. We booked two king size rooms and they overlooked the front of the hotel. Both rooms were lovely, and well kept. This hotel is near the airport, and the planes are very near so if you are a light sleeper, be aware of this. Nevertheless we did not find trouble sleeping and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was very good, with choice of hot breakfast, waffles, fruit, yoghuts etc. The dining room was lovely and the catering staff very pleasant and efficient. Receptionists were always helpful when asked questions about transport, local amenities etc. The hotel is in walking distance of the Skytrain which takes you into the city, ferry etc. A great service at reasonable costs, also includes the bus and ferry fares. Will certainly stay here again if we are in Vancouver.

Room Tip: We had rooms 357 and 359

1 night room 305.
Booked this hotel because it was close to airport and to drop off our rental.
It is not called the Best Western now just the Abercorn Inn. We were worried because google maps says its closed but it's not the case
Reception very friendly and went out of there way to help.
Hotel is situated between 2 main roads one runs along front the other the back. We thought it would be noisey but didn't hear a thing and as night fell tragic was fairly minimal.
The room is pleasant and reasonably spacious. There was plenty of room to move around, a comfy king size bed, fridge, writing desk and armchair. Finally a good size bathroom with just a shower cubicle, no climbing over the bath, with the toilet in there as well.
Complimentary breakfast included eggs, sausage, make your own pancakes, fresh pastries, cereals,breads/bagels, juices and fresh apples/bananas good enough to start the day.
They do have a bar which I think opened from 4pm closing time unknown and next door a Chinese restaurant which wasn't too bad.
Within, say a 10min walk there is a Tim Hortons(coffee shop). If you are into golf, Golf Town is in the same plaza. Up the other way a liquor shop and large Asian grocery market. Richmond night markets is 15-20min and a casino on the way, don't take the car because even though it's not that far queues are long.
Staff at hotel are friendly and are continually greeting you.
Being close to airport one of the flight paths was over the river rock casino, not that far away, I don't recall hearing much aviation noise.
Would stay here again because of its proximity to airport and they also offer a shuttle service.
