This little museum is located at the back of the Post Office/Visitors centre. We went into the visitors centre to look at the Once upon a time merchandise and to find out when filming was taking place in Steveston, so to stumble across this museum was quite a surprise. If you're interested in history, in particular that of Steveston you'll enjoy it here. It's free (although donations accepted) clean and spacious and the staff very knowledgeable and friendly.
It doesn't take long to look around it, but worth a visit plus there is also a lovely little Japanese garden that you can sit and relax in outside.

The staff at the museum/tourism centre are very friendly and helpful. The museum has displays that tell about the history of Steveston. There is a gift shop where you can find merchandise from the hit TV show Once Upon A Time, which is filmed on location in Steveston.

Stepped into this FREE museum while searching for the Tourist Info Center. The first building has the Visitor Info and a couple of rooms. One room contained furnishings and such from the buildings time as Steveston's first bank. The other room has consumer goods from the 1900. Apparently there is an upstairs area to view, but we missed it.

Be sure to step through the rear door and there one will find the Japanese Fisherman's Benevolent Society building. Housed within a separate, air-conditioned building are artifacts and pictures relating to one of the West Coasts oldest fishing villages. Great items and displays, please view the photos.

There is also a nice little plaza with a Japanese garden and Japanese wooden Gate. On July 1, the plaza was full of volunteers and tables with delightful activities for children.

Good museum, 20 minutes top...free.

Our family visited the Steveston Museum during a recent trip to the area. It is small, but certainly worth a visit. They had information about the history of the community that we enjoyed. They also were very helpful in telling us about the filming of the television program "Once Upon A Time", which we had come to view. They had some nice souvenirs also. It is conveniently located right in the heart of Steveston. I would highly recommend that you stop by the museum if you are in the area.

Step back to the early 1900s at this little museum. Staff are knowledgeable. Interesting to see banking functions from the early years.
