You MUST visit this museum if you love history. Small but sweet. This museum looks like a tiny shop outside but has two good sized exhibitions inside! It is free which is fab( coming from London where all museums are free to Canada where I rarely found anything for free!) and it is WELL worth your time. Takes about 30min to 1 hour depending on if you read everything.

This museum is mainly based around the integration and discrimination of the Japanese population in steveston. It is absolutely fascinating and explains a lot about immigration, the fishing industry and how the Japanese formed their own institutions in the face of prejudice.

Also the computer/touch screen thing in the exhibition has 8 short films (excellent clarity and sound) which is of high standards explaining the different stories behind steveston and the historiescomplete with photographs. If you don't read all the descriptions of the artefacts please watch all 8 and you'll gain so much knowledge!! Must see!!

This museum is on the road in between the cannery museum and the bus stop from brigmond.

This little museum is located at the back of the Post Office/Visitors centre. We went into the visitors centre to look at the Once upon a time merchandise and to find out when filming was taking place in Steveston, so to stumble across this museum was quite a surprise. If you're interested in history, in particular that of Steveston you'll enjoy it here. It's free (although donations accepted) clean and spacious and the staff very knowledgeable and friendly.
It doesn't take long to look around it, but worth a visit plus there is also a lovely little Japanese garden that you can sit and relax in outside.

The staff at the museum/tourism centre are very friendly and helpful. The museum has displays that tell about the history of Steveston. There is a gift shop where you can find merchandise from the hit TV show Once Upon A Time, which is filmed on location in Steveston.
