“This place only makes a few items - lobster or Alaskan King Crab, but it does it so well”

They can make a five course out of lobster- with a steamed lobster with just green onion and a little bit of wine; a soy bean sautee, a breaded lobster, a lobster and egg custard dish, as well as a lobster fried rice. Bring a great appetite since the lobsters we are talking about are about 15 lb or more! There are then desserts such as different soups with tapioca, a mango encased in dumpling and rice gluten and red bean balls. Because this is the only thing that the restaurant does, it does it really well and the people keep coming for it. The clientele is all Chinese attesting to the high quality and the value for money. This is a great place to have a celebration. The serving staff are very entertaining as they sing Happy Birthday in both English and Chinese.

We had dim sum lunch there. Everything is great and as expected. They even give free pickles and hot and sour soup as appetizer and desserts. Lots of parking outside. Service is good. Should try the multiple ways giant lobster next time.

Very impressed by the way the chef cooked the giant lobster in 3 different ways. Drooled whenever I look at the photos again.:)

If you are seafood lover, should try this restaurant! It is very crowded, especially during weekendS, so please call up and make reservations before u head there.

When unique Chinese dishes are being discussed, O'Mei's one-of-a-kind 'Giant Lobster 5 ways' almost always got mentioned.Though popular and well known among regular Chinese patrons, this off-menu item has yet to be discovered by most western populous. Due to the intimidating size of the beast, it also require a group of people to devour the monster!

Tonight, a group of 8 die-hard foodies, descended on O'Mei for a 10 pounder 'Giant Lobster 5 ways' chowdown.

The meal consisted of:

- Steamed lobster claws with fried minced garlic, ginger & scallions on a bed of rice vermicelli

- Stirred fry lobster tails with premium top soy-Maggi sauce and shredded onions.

- Deep fried head and body with salted duck egg yolk batter

- Steamed egg custard ( Chawamushi ) with tomale ( lobster brains )

- Fried rice with egg white, string beans, minced dried scallops and t

- House special Crispy skin free-run Chicken with special dipping.

- Stirred fry Chinese Broccoli ( Gai Lan ) with mince dried Tile fish and garlic

- Steamed pork pattie with sun dried squid and water chestnuts

- An array of complimentary Chinese dessert that included: Chinese egg-white doughnut puff with red-bean filling, Fresh Mango Mochi, Red bean and black glutinous rice soup, mini Chinese sesame paste filled mochi ( Tong-Yu

All the lobster dishes were expertly executed with the majority of attendees pointing to the 'Maggi Stirred lobster tail dish' as their favorite! The deep fried duck egg yolk version came a close second. However, in my opinion, the best tasting dish was the steamed pork pattie. Simply out-of-this-world delicious. Peerless in the GTA!

Overall, a most enjoyable meal and I think everyone was stuffed and had a great time!

There are 3 major specialities: Alaskan King Crab, Lobster and Yellow Grouper.
Each may be prepared in 3-5 ways.
They are all very good but very expensive.
The service and the ambience however, are more like most Chinese mid-tier restaurants, tables are close to one another;
rather disappointing, considering how much their dishes cost.
I checked "Fine Dining" on the question about
"How Expensive is the restaurant" for the price, but not for the service and ambience.
I would recommend going there only on a special occasion if you want to try their extra ordinary dishes.
Other dishes (that one may get from most Chinese restaurants) are way over-priced!
