Window cranks still broken, rusted out BBQ (but did replace grill when complained) no wifi indoors, told the logs were to thick. Broken crappy blinds on front door (when raised they fall apart) It was clean, but very dusty. The units are a little crammed on the land so our view was the other cabins with some mountains in the background. Also I would think for these prices there could be a flat screen tv and maybe a DVD player for those rainy days

The facility was dirty. Mattresses should have been retired years ago. Window cranks broken. Entire place had very minimal housekeeping; dust everywhere and pieces of chinking on upper window sills along with the summers casualty of dead flies! No handle for fridge. Filthy oven and barbecue. Yuk, Yuk never again.
All we wanted was a secluded cozy weekend getaway for our anniversary; this was not it.

Room Tip: Stay elsewhere; avoid this facility!!!

I stayed at Kicking Horse River Chalets in December 2014 with a group of friends. The chalets are very charming and well equipped. It felt like we were in a movie.

The chalets are just a twenty minute ride away from Golden, where you will find supermarkets and a gas station. The Kicking Horse Mountain a Resort is nearby as well.

We even drove to Revelstoke for skiing one day. This was pretty far, but doable. Last but not least, Lake Louise (village and ski resort) is just an hour drive away from the chalets.

We stayed at the cabins from July 1 to 5. We arrived at 2pm and were told to come back at 4pm the cabin was not cleaned yet. We came back at 4pm and still not clean. I started to haul stuff from the parking lot to the cabin anyway. They do provide a wagon to put things in. I noticed there was no BBQ on the deck so I asked where it was. He found one and I hooked it up for him. After 2hrs of running around looking for sheets, pillow cases and everything we got in. The cabin was a mess. Floor not swept, washed, dishes in the dishwasher, no tea towels, dish soap, etc... finally found someone and got supplies and we did it our self. After that the stay was nice. The cabins are in a great spot walking distance to the river and nice to sit on the deck. and watch the sun come up.
We went to Hydra river rafting. The location is handy 1 block from the cabins. Had a great Morning there and a wonderful lunch. We also went up to the ski hill to see the bear and had lunch up at the top. We spent lots of time at the river with our 2 dogs and relaxed.
The cabins really need a good once over on a little TLC. Coffee pot didn't work, fridge door handle tore off, blinds falling off the windows. 1/2" dust all over the tables and fire place mantle. We are not fussy people and don't need housekeeping but a change of towels and having the trash on the deck taken away at least.I guess I expected a bit more for what we paid. I did get the $100 refunded for a dog charge (after I asked) because we left the cabin cleaner then when we checked in.
I will return to this spot but maybe rent threw Chancler Cabins. I found out they have cabins there as well and did have a office and a on site person to go to.
All in all was a great break away from work and we all had a good time cooking and visiting.

We went skiing at Kicking Horse Mountain and booked a one of the chalets for our stay near Golden. While the chalets are still a bit of a drive (30 - 40 minutes) from Golden or the ski hill they were a great value.

There was sleeping enough for 6 with a double and 2 singles in the loft and a queen in the bedroom downstairs. Probably could put one more on the couch. The loft had a large soaker tub for one to sooth away the aches and pains from a day on the hill or to warm up those bones on a cold day.

The cabins a real roomy which was proven by the fact we met up with friends here and had 15 or so people mulling about the cabin without feeling cramped. A beautiful stone masoned gas fireplace highlights the main room and the vaulted ceilings with large window add to the roomy feel. It comes with a fully equipped kitchen with pretty much everything you could need. A covered deck out front with a barbeque adds to the potential living space as well giving you alternative cooking options. Even the wifi was free and seemed pretty fast as well.

Our stay for two nights was only $230 making for 3 of us a per person cost per night only about $38.50.
