Burnaby Museum is great place for kids to let them know the history as well how was the old village looks before. The oldest carousel was still there and working properly plus the band and relic train. The volunteers are really kind and accommodating and welcoming. Its worth to spend the whole day in the village especially if theres a special event once in a while and entrance is free.

Thanks for the review! Our carousel is indeed pretty old. It was built in 1912 and is one of our largest artifacts! We usually host at least one special event every month throughout our summer season. Folks can check out our website for more information. Again, thanks for taking the time to post your review.

The visit is a good utilization of half a day and it is free. No entry fee! Otherwise, museums and exhibitions have a hefty fee for the entrance in most of the cities of North America.

The exhibits are well kept in separate rooms and the people explaining about the exhibits are informed of the past history of the city as well as of the country.
It is enjoyable by elders and is a nice way to educate younger folk about the traditions and ways of the past.

The place is beautifully green and picturesque. For anyone visiting Vancouver, a visit to the Burnaby Village Museum will be a memorable event. One can take as many photos as one wishes.

Buses for reaching the place are available from different parts of the city, but while returning in the evening one has to walk a bit more. A lake nearby is an added attraction. The lawns are kept superbly and cultivation of vegetables and flowers are also on display.

The shop selling Chinese medicines, blacksmiths workshop and how people took bath in olden times are varied exhibits. The bus-train of yesteryear was also displayed.

Overall the atmosphere was of festivity as I went on a special day announced in the newspapers. By the way, newspapers are also free in Burnaby/ Vancouver.

We initially planned this visit from out of province because our daughter wanted to see the place her favourite band Marianas Trench recorded their video for "Shake Tramp". We were not disappointed!

The carousel was beautiful and the ride lasted much longer than expected! The grounds are beautiful! Of course the highlight (at least for a Marianas Trench fan) was the main street. Every building was extremely interesting and there was so much to see! My favourite was probably the General Store.

A half a day is not enough time to spend if you really want to take everything in. We ran short of time (our fault) and rushed a bit at the end of our tour. I could have stayed much longer!

Highly recommend!

I have been to the Burnaby museum a number of times and each time I see a little more. I have taken and adult with developmental disabilites there, as she is focused on carousells. Staff have always been friendly and respectful to her unique needs. I went more recently with my children for the 12 days of christmas. The grounds were beautiful and we had a fantastic time.

Burnaby Village Museum offers patrons a fun, realistic glimpse into the past. Set up as an actual village, this outdoor museum has plenty to offer, and, with free admission, is an affordable adventure. Be sure to have a reasonably priced ride on the carousel before leaving.
