While this sounded interesting, it reminded me of an old junk shop with labels. I spent less than 30 minutes -- there are far better things to do in Drumheller.
You can see the old farm equipment, which is interesting, but if you go into the house, don't expect friendly service. My friends ordered coffee and were then hustled outside, despite there being no one else in the house. The merchandise was nice, but after the treatment we receive we did not feel much like buying anything.
Checked online before we went the price for family was $12 when we show up it was $30. Talk about a price hike seem they like to gouge the tourists for a mediocre museum.
Their exhibits were poorly laid out, and while there were information panels some of them were slightly inaccurate, especially the native points which were almost all marked as arrow heads. I think our experience may have been better if the staff was more engaging with the patrons as we wondered through the museum.
The museum definitely had lots to see, but it cost our family of 4 $30.00 to enter the doors. We frequent many antique stores and museums and have never had to pay such an admission. There were also a few errors on the displays. There was a display a crab claw that is actually a Lobster claw, and one of the plaques describing a vehicle had a typo. I can't remember the name, but on the actual vehicle, the name ended with a "c" and on the plaque it ended with a "ck." Small, I know, but we noticed these errors and were a little distracted by them and wondered if there were more. Drumheller is fun but pretty expensive to visit the museums, and I would not recommend including this one unless you are a big history buff.
Stopped by on a cold afternoon looking for an inside activity, glad we did. Lots of variety, something that almost everyone would be interested in.
