No problem setting up the reservation or getting checked in. The hotel seems pretty new, and it's in good shape. So was the pool and the exercise room.

The room looked and smelled clean, with a nice "clean" smell and nothing in the room was worn out or falling apart, like so many hotels these days. No mold in the bathroom either.

What WAS in the bathroom, was hair and pubic hair, all over the floor and all over the tile at the entrance. Obviously, the floors weren't swept and the floors weren't mopped. The rest of the room was a carpet, and I can't even imagine what was on and in the carpet there, if the tile floors were as filthy as they were. That's a fail.

Breakfast was ample, lots of options and well stocked. That was good. What wasn't as good as the old woman that worked in the kitchen could be heard, both mornings, talking to guests, and explaining/whining how terrible it was to work there. ?? Don't care - then quit. She asked one woman "can I come with you when you leave??" Ha ha. ?

Next, was pure fraud. We paid for a double queen room. They weren't queen sized mattresses. We have a queen size mattress at home, and BOTH mattresses were only double mattresses. We know this because I took the measuring tape from my van and measured BOTH mattresses. They were barely 54" wide - and that's what double mattresses are. A queen sized mattress, is 60" wide (and that is how wide OUR queen sized mattress is) and neither of these were that wide. We wondered what was going on because we are both tall, athletic, and we had to sleep on our sides so our shoulders weren't at the edge of the bed. I talked to the woman who checked us in and she told me that other people had complained about the same thing, but they were wrong. "Trust me", she said, "they are queen sized mattresses". Of course, only a fool would assume she was going to say "yeah, I know, they're only double mattresses, but we lie to customers, tell them they're queens, and charge them for queen size mattresses :)"

Also, watch out for the yellow jacket nests in the ground right outside the front door in their "flower beds", and there are about 50 sea gulls that live on the roof and crap all over everything, including YOU if you're not careful.

So, far particularly the lying and fraud, they get a one star because I can't give 0 stars. For $500+ for two nights? On beds that were undersized and lied about? Maybe most customers don't really care if they are lied to and over charged. There were a lot of immigrant guests and likely they don't know the difference of north American bed sizes. So, yeah, that's flat out fraud. I'm going to do some calling around to authorities and see what I can stir up for these clowns.

I checked in around 6pm on 2023/10/4. The front desk was not in a friendly mood. She thanked me for being an IHG Club member, but did not acknowledge my IHG elite status, or tell me any welcome points were being deposited.

They had upgraded me to a suite (which IHG informed me via email) but the email did not say it went from two beds to one bed. I specifically wanted two beds, so this should never be an automatic upgrade! When I asked reception to put me back in a room with two beds, she seemed annoyed. Thankfully, they still had a room with two beds, or it would've been very disruptive.

Finally, she told me my credit card would be charged overnight, instead of upon check-out. This is unusual. When I informed her that I might pay with a different payment method upon check-out, she had to make an extra note on my bill. My request wasn't unusual, so maybe the hotel shouldn't process final payments until check-out.

The room was dated and cleanliness could have been improved. I did not feel I got good value for the money.

Hotel was very clean and modern and close to tourist areas. Upon arrival, our room was upgraded to a suite. Very nice touch. Would definitely stay there next time we’re in the area. Standard breakfast.
