We visited the gallery based on a recommendation and glad we did. Given the number of artists who contribute their work or are based here there is a very good and broad range of art to view and/or purchase, as well as the opportunity to speak with the artists about their work. The old schoolhouse provides a fine setting and the gift shop is well worth a visit
Not just an art gallery, but a place where you can watch some artists/artisans creating/completing their works: painters, weavers, pottery, etc.
We live locally but try to visit every month or so as the main display changes. There are many different local artists working on site, painters, sculptors, jewellers etc. There is a lovely gift shop on site and they have musical events periodically.
This once was the Qualicum Beach school and rather than demolish the old schoolhouse it was re-furbished into a working art gallery. The artists work with several mediums and you can book classes with them, It is a great place just to walk around viewing the art on display,
Considering how small Qualicum is this is a great place to visit - free entry to see local artist's work. Try to attend one of the Jazz concerts - internationally renowned musicians in the most intimate of settings. Can't be beat except perhaps in New York.
Thank you for your support!
Stopped by for the first time and it was very enjoyable. A number of artists were present and I found them quite friendly to chat with (they even gave a few suggestions on what to see in the area) and the diversity and quality of art to be quite good. Overall a good place to stroll through.
