Owner description: There is no better way to experience the spectacular sites and atmosphere of Lunenburg's historic streetscapes and working waterfront than on foot. Lunenburg Walking Tours was created to offer visitors to our UNESCO World Heritage Site town - one of only two such urban sites in North America - an educational and entertaining directed walk through history. Co-Owners Shelah Allen and Ashlee Feener, both descendants from original founding families, bring authenticity, accuracy, and levity, all woven into great stories, to your outing. Tours are at a gentle pace, vary in length depending on the tour, go rain or shine, and require a reservation by phone/text or email.

The historic section of this overly quaint town is like walking through a history book. I walked it in the pouring rain and it was still a gem. Visit the fishers museum and the magnificant Nluenose 2.

A haunted tour was just the adventure we needed to complete a perfect stay in this charming seaside town. In the damp darkness of night our guide met us to reveal some astonishing historical facts and interesting superstitions as we wound our walk around the quaint and lovely neighborhoods of Lunenburg. Our guide had vast local knowledge and a great sense of humor as we toured through a church crypt and the old graveyard in the moonlight. We learned so much about the town history. She even brought lanterns to add to the mystique. Katherine is an excellent guide and we were very disappointed that so many people walked away at the end of the tour without providing her even a small tip for her genuine and energetic style. The tour was wonderful!

Did this a Friday morning, did not pre book just turned up, about 24 people in our group. Starts at Lunenburg academy, winds thru the town, our host knows her stuff, wonderful insights and personal history. 100% recommended to do

Lunenburg Walking Tours has the most qualified tour guides available to learn about the history of Lunenburg, mostly using its historic buildings as the common thread through all the stories. They were all born in Lunenburg and know all the legends, habits and quirks of its population. Ralph Getson was our guide. He recently retired from the Lunenburg Fisheries Museum and so has spent most of his life committed to the history of the town. The tour starts at the iconic Lunenburg Academy -- the castle on the hill -- and proceeds through 354 years of history as you walk the route which is all downhill. Plan ahead, since if you park at the top, you will have to walk back to get your car. But, there are shops and restaurants for the first half walking back, so you can stop for lunch to re-charge before heading home. Or find a non-metered spot at the half-way point and meet your guide after a leisurely stroll through the neighbourhood.
They typically have small groups and the cost in 2017 is $20 per person.

Not too hard to walk. Great to learn history of the city and see it in the homes and buildings. Anglican church was super. But the co owner guide was one of the best ever
