Owner description: There is no better way to experience the spectacular sites and atmosphere of Lunenburg's historic streetscapes and working waterfront than on foot. Lunenburg Walking Tours was created to offer visitors to our UNESCO World Heritage Site town - one of only two such urban sites in North America - an educational and entertaining directed walk through history. Co-Owners Shelah Allen and Ashlee Feener, both descendants from original founding families, bring authenticity, accuracy, and levity, all woven into great stories, to your outing. Tours are at a gentle pace, vary in length depending on the tour, go rain or shine, and require a reservation by phone/text or email.

From Halifax we rode on the tour bus to this quaint village with lots of history. Founded in 1753, it is one of the most picturesque towns in Canada. We walked around the town and harbor where we saw the famous Bluenose II. Nice day!

The size of Lunenberg belies its very interesting history. We enjoyed the personal stories from our guide Sheila. She took us into locked churches that we never would have seen on our own. She held our interest and the two hours went by quickly.

We got a bit lucky as we visited during the off season when you're supposed to arrange the tour in advance. We called Shelah on the day and luckily she was already booked to do a tour that morning!

Shelah lives and breathes Lunenburg and you leave the tour feeling like you've lived there for years yourself!! Would recommend to anyone visiting this gorgeous little town.

Why would you visit a UNESCO World Heritage Site and not take a tour to learn about the town? What attracted me to this tour is it is only 1-1.5 hrs long - the perfect length! I also had the honour of having the company owner, Shelah Allen, as my guide. As a 7th generation local, she shared the perfect mix of history, architecture and personal anecdotes. And, at only $20 this tour is cheaper than a Nova Scotia lobster. This walking tour is a must-do not only in Lunenburg, but in Nova Scotia!

Huge thanks to our tour guide, Ralph, for a fabulous walking tour. We ended up being the only people on the tour that morning so we got a private tour! Ralph was friendly, knowledgeable and answered all questions we had and even went above and beyond to find out the answer to the cost of the 2nd pipe organ and left the answer on our car windshield!
