Along with 9 other members of the Rocky Mountain Ramblers, I stayed for three nights at Truffle Pigs Lodge in order to be close to good backcountry and XC skiing. What an excellent choice! The setting, Field, B.C., is a charming little mountain hamlet shrouded in fog and dusted with snow. The hotel, with only 12 rooms, is a gem. The rooms are clean and nicely appointed, the showers hot, the bed firm, television as good as it gets (take that any way you like). The wifi is a bit slow but, really, who cares?
We were able to cook and prepare foods in one room with a kitchenette which, unfortunately, only has one bed.
The Bistro is cozy and the menu offers an variety of succulent choices. i had the duck cassoulet and couldn't have been more pleased.
Now, the really good news is that during certain times of the year, they have a deal where the third night's stay is free. Wow! This makes Truffle Pigs essentially the same cost as the hostel in Lake Louise. So, you can sleep in a dorm room with strangers coming and going at all hours or....
