Under its enterprising management, I have seen the Dashwood Arms going from strength to strength in the course of occasional lunchtime visits over recent years and, prompted by a friend's recommendation of the hanging kebabs which have now been added to its menu, we chose it for a family supper yesterday evening to celebrate my wife's birthday. On a Thursday evening at 7.00, the pub was full of happy customers and buzzing with a lively atmosphere, ahead of the weekly pub quiz starting at 9.00. Three of us ordered the hanging kebabs and, well, they were just sensational! We all chose the lamb kebabs, although chicken and halloumi options were also available, with a choice of interesting accompaniments (my chips were as good as any I've ever eaten) and chilli and tzanziki dips. Portion sizes were massive, and fantastically good value at £12.50. My daughter went for a duck salad, which was similarly huge (the staff offered to pack up what she couldn't finish, to take away) and great value. She and I somehow managed also to fit in chocolate desserts: delicious, nicely presented, and again very reasonably priced. Beer was from our outstanding local (Marlow) Rebellion brewery. Service was very friendly and efficient; in fact, everything about our dinner experience was outstanding. Although it's some way from where we live - perhaps fortunately, for my waistline - I'm sure that the Dashwood Arms is going to become a regular choice for our pub dining from now onwards.
