Excellent location with nearby parking a bonus. We had Room 1. Loved the 4-poster and comfy bedding. Would have preferred a cubicle shower (saw a beauty in another room) - and a shelf in the bathroom would be useful. No evidence at all of smoking, which I'd have picked up quickly. Excellent breakfast. Small rooms but atmospheric and in keeping with age of house. Staircase could be a problem if disabled. Overall would definitely stay there again. Thank you Mr Bellis.

What a great weekend we had. This hotel is perfect for a weekwnd away at the races. There was off street parking. The proprietor was kind and welcoming and even gaves us some winning tips. The rooms were immaculate and the breakfast outstanding. We didn't smell any cigarette smoke so don't know what the problem with the other reviews are. I would recommend this hotel for a days racing, shopping or a historic visit to this beautiful city.

David was welcoming and we didn't notice any cigarette smoke at all! However the room we had was very small, and the steep staircase would be a problem for anyone with mobility difficulties or at risk of falling. This house is over 400 years old and felt like it. However, the beds were comfortable and the room cleanliness of a reasonable standard. Free parking 2 minutes walk away, and a great location as the city wall just around the corner. Would recommend this B & B if you like very old buildings with low ceilings, stairs and a toilet that sounds like an old washing machine :) Great little chinese restaurant just around the corner called Eastern Glory!

This place REEKS of cigarette smell. It is a non-smoking B&B, but that apparently means only for those staying here, not the owner. He smokes a huge amount. It is too bad, because the location is great. Also, the shower and coffee/tea maker was dirty, and the toilet when we arrived was too.

Stop the smoking, and clean it up more and the place would be great. I guess I need to read trip adviser before I book next time.

Well, this is a very old small house - this is how it looks from outside. You also get a huge key for your huge wooden door and not a modern swipe card. It has only 5-6 rooms. Great atmosphere! The rooms are very clean and large enough and are equipped with everything you need (including free WLAN). Mr David Bellis who runs this place is very helpful, polite and friendly. Breakfast is great. And of course the price to value. The next time I come to Chester, I'm definetely staying in the Town House!!!
