This is a 2 star hotel and yes it’s decor is very tired, but it was clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The food isn’t 5 star food, but it was plentiful, nicely presented , tasted good and served promptly, on hot plates. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and we had a lovely view of the sea. I would add that if you like a bath sheet, take your own, the towels aren’t huge. We were part of a coach party and really enjoyed our stay. It’s not going to please everyone, but we’d give it a thumbs up!

Lovely little hotel, absolute bargain price, just down from the main centre of Newquay overlooking the Bay Area means you have wonderful views when you walk out the area, the slightly outside location means it was a very peaceful sleep.
Room was tidy and clean as was the bathroom, good facilities for an overnight stay, the room was warm and cosy.

Having read some of the reviews on this hotel, I am not sure we could possibly have stayed in the same location. Kernow Singing Circle held a residential weekend and we had 72 ladies from Cornwall and across the UK come to stay. We had the whole hotel to ourselves. A choice of three starters, mains and dessert at every meal - food was excellent. Yes the hotel decoration in places is a little tired, but this weekend it was spotlessly clean, the staff were absolute stars and did everything they could to make a weekend a success. Due to the snow, some ladies needed an extra night, no problem. There were 5 staff "outfront" at anyone time - ALL worked their socks off for us. Thank you Cliffdene for a great weekend - to Sarah, the Manager, thank you - you were not around due to illness, but Andy, who was duty manager was so helpful. Thanks to all of you, the 72 ladies who stayed had a great time.

Room Tip: Sea Views !

After reading some of the previous reviews I think those people were expecting high class accommodation on budget prices.
The Cliffdean is spotlessly clean and having previously owned a B&B I checked throughly even the tops of the wardrobes were dust free! the room was a good size and had all you could want provided, a well stocked refreshment tray, hairdryer, good size TV, clean towels, bath mats and bedding. Yes the decor may be a bit dated now in some people's eyes, but it was clean. I had to move the bedside cabinet because I dropped something and it was clean under there too which in my opinion shows excellent housekeeping.
The view from our room was amazing we weren't expecting to be given a sea view room so to open the door and to see such a beautiful sight was a wow factor.
The staff were all very friendly from reception right through to the ladies cleaning the rooms.
Breakfast was excellent, we were lucky to have a window seat to admire the view (even though it was raining). As soon as we sat we were supplied with tea and coffee by a very friendly gentleman, upon finishing our cereal toast appeared and not long after that our cooked breakfast came too. Again the dining room was spotless table cloths, cutlery, classes all very clean, I couldn't fault it at all.
My advice is to look past the negative reviews and try it for yourself it's a good hotel in a prime location that is trying very hard in very cut throat industry.

Room Tip: It's floor room 9 - fantastic view
