“Great as always”
Review of Rick Stein

Rick Stein
Ranked #23 of 34 Quick Bites in Newquay
Description: Rick Stein's restaurant in Fistral, Newquay, is casual and laid-back serving Rick's famous fish & chips as well as Indian takeaway with dishes inspired by Rick's travels including Goan chicken curry, lamb karahi, pad Thai noodles, nasi goreng and vegetable makhanawala. Cod, haddock and lemon sole all feature as well as fish chilli burgers and Rick's famous homemade tartare sauce, aioli and authentic curry sauce. Overlooking the iconic Fistral beach, this has to be one of the best places to eat in Newquay whilst soaking up the sun and enjoying the Cornish coast.

Great food - pad Thai is heavenly. The kids enjoyed theirs too , massive potions for children.

There’s a lot of new things to try too - a new specials board (which I’ll try next time) and the Margarita frozen cocktail is really good. They definitely didn’t skimp up on the tequila.

Can’t wait to come back

Lunch at Rick Stein at fistral bay. We were surprised there was no queue and were seated immediately. Staff member (should have got his name) was fantastic. Great customer service and nothing was too much trouble for him. Food was great. I had fish and chips. Fish was incredible, melt in the mouth. Chips could have done with with a few more minutes in the fryer but still delicious. Only let down was the bread roll tasted a little stale and wasn’t buttered enough to really enjoy the full ‘chip butty’ experience!! Tartare sauce tastes a little ‘chemically’ but my partner enjoyed it. Will definitely go back always a treat when we are in that area. This fish and chips shop was not as good as their fish and chip shop in padstow but maybe just one of those days.

Firstly we went to Fistral beach & had good look around & decided to eat there the next day & have a drink first while my g/daughter walked Fistral with her dogs, however despite notices @ every entery point say open @ 11.00am staff insisted they were closed & would open @ 12.00 ,this was bad enough but when we did get in the manager said they will open 11.00 next week how is that for customer service. When the food arrived things got worse my wife ordered sea bass grilled With salad, the salad was 90% spinach & the sea bass swimming in oil unedible except for the dogs I odered fish & chips & whilst I managed the fish the chips were cold & hard. Will we go again NEVER despite its prime location it was a complete waste of money

Absolutely rubbish over priced and not good . It’s a rip off fish was over cooked and chips were cold . They offer you sauces like tartare sauce or ketchup but they don’t tell you you have to pay extra for it . They tried to charge us £1.25 for 1 spoon of tartare sauce they don’t tell you when they offer it you . Then the bill arrives it’s on there . Beware of added extras !!!!

We are big fans of Rick and chalky ( rip ) however this restaurant was a total disappointment. Track and trace did not work , restaurant was not the cleanest and food was just mediocre.. wine was charged £ 26 a bottle .. yet if takeaway £ 9.95 .. .. You have just lost 2 fans Rick ☹️☹️
