A very good experience overall. Our room had a superb view, it was clean and very comfortable. We enjoyed our meals in the hotel restaurant (also with excellent views) and would like to return for a longer stay. The only drawback was the limited parking space.

The restaurant was over priced and very disappointed with the breakfast buffet. The selection was not topped up enough and kept asking for more bread butter and jam. Peaple took too much and wasted the food which was annoying to see. The food Sunday night was a bit of a rip off as I was basically given over priced pate and still. Charged an extra fiver the kitchen ran out of mussels and prawns so I should have been offered an alternative and not charged this was expensive and small portions

Perched on a steep hill ( with equally steep car park ! ) this grand hotel definitely let's one live the high life. It feels like luxury the moment you enter and our room did not disappoint being large and airy. With a superb view of Penzance harbour and Mount's Bay beyond. The breakfasts excellent and the evening meals superb with no skimping of portions. Dining room staff were courteous and friendly being prompt in their service. Most certainly a hotel to be recommended highly.

Room tip: Another hotel with stairs, as do many of hotels outside of London.

Stayed here for 1 night before sailing over to the Isles of Scilly on the Scillonian. Great service from the moment we arrived. Receptionist was really friendly and helpful. The restaurant staff were really accommodating considering we hadn’t booked food in advance and had 2 dogs with us. Would definitely stay again in the same situation

My wife and I received a gift voucher for an indulgence afternoon tea. On Monday l rang hotel Pz twice, the first time l spoke to a lady and informed her that my wife is coeliac she said she would tell the kitchen and they would call me back. Needless to say they didn’t ring, So l rang back and spoke to a different lady who took my booking and some what dismissively said GF was no problem. Arrived 2-00pm today for said indulgence afternoon tea, No one seemed to know we were coming. We were seated and l confirmed with the waitress that my wife was GF she seemed a little surprised. I ordered a bottle of Bollinger only to be told they had sold out so ordered a much inferior brand . Our afternoon tea arrived, and we were informed that the only thing that was GF was the sandwich’s much to our dismay. I cancelled the of champagne, we had already been told the mustard on the ham sandwich was not GF. So asked for plain ham sandwich, which arrived with aforementioned mustard on it. Asked for plain ham sandwich, which came back with no butter. So for my wife’s indulgence afternoon tea she had a ham sandwich with no butter a smoked salmon sandwich and two cups of coffee £22.00. We complained politely and all got was lots of empty corporate apology’s. So my advice if you are thinking of going to the Garden Restaurant at Hotel PZ don’t, go to the local kebab house it will be far better!

I am so so sorry for the experience you have detailed. This is completely inappropriate and is not a reflection on the hard work we put into guest experiences.
We are thoroughly embarrassed by the errors you have informed us about.
Please accept our deepest apologies.

We have since stopped doing afternoon teas, but we would love the opportunity to redeem ourselves. Should you ever consider it, we'd love to host you for dinner in the evening and hopefully display ourselves in a better light.

As stated, we are deeply sorry, but would also like to thank you for bringing this to our attention. This experience was discussed by our management team and many changes have been brought in to ensure this never happens again.

We had the unfortunate experience of booking this hotel for our holiday in Cornwall, restaurant staff extremely rude and had a 45 minute wait for breakfast. When trying to order a drink before going out for the evening we were told to take a seat outside, after waiting 15 minutes we decided to leave, informed the waiter not to bother for his reply to be “ we were not on his list of priorities”. I then asked for the manager only to find he had been sitting outside with a friend having a drink and some food so had witnessed it all, he done nothing. Will certainly return to Cornwall but will not be staying here, 4 star hotel running with 2 star service
