“lovely filling pasties and fabulous sausage rolls”

Bought pasties and a sausage roll for the kids on impulse to give us a warming boost on the walk down to Tintagel Castle. The pasties were hot, tasty, with plenty of filling and the beef was tender and moist. The seasoning was just right, not too salty and with a touch of pepper. The sausage rolls were big and judging at the rate that kids demolished them, I would would say they tasted pretty good!

Myself and my wife shared a large pasty in bude and its exactly what a cornish pasty should be but bigger. A lot of pasty shops in Cornwall are a let down if im honest but this was worth the 10 minute que.

I first visited Pengenna Pasties with my parents and brother on a get together last September and we all loved the great pasties! So much in fact that I insisted on bringing my partner back to Tintagel on our 4 day break to Cornwall - despite it being over an hour away.

After a appetite warming walk down to the castle and gorgeous views which my girlfriend enjoyed as much as I did last year, Pengenna was a welcoming sight!

We took the opportunity to sit in the garden of the tea room on this occasion and the wonderfully helpful (despite being her own! - Not a problem at all as it is off season!) waitress bought my partner the highly recommended traditional pasty whilst I opted for the lamb and mint. Both were perfect and my girlfriend who always leaves quite a chunk of her meal ate it all up too!

WILL BE BACK AGAIN... AGAIN!

The pasties we ate at the restaurant were so good that we bought two more to take home for another day. The scones are incredible too, so don't pass them up. Now that we are home in the US I am trying to find out how to get these pasties and scones sent here!

After seeing this bakery next to the carpark we parked in to go to Tintagel Castle, we (myself & mum & dad) were excited about trying a real cornish pastie. Sadly, our experience has scarred us and I won't be able to face a pastie again. We bought the "traditional" pastie of beef, onion & potato and it was revolting. The beef was gristle, 3/4 of the inside was chopped up onion which repeated on us for the afternoon & there was absolutely no flavour. The pastry was very dry and floury. I was simply glad I'd purchased a Fanta to wash down the 1/3 of the pastie I managed to get down. A very unfortunate experience.
