Owner description: Devon's famous Lynton & Lynmouth funicular Cliff Railway is the most exciting way to travel between these two historic towns & will be the highlight of any visit. Enjoy stunning views of the North Devon Coastline as you ride the steepest totally water powered railway in the world or relax in our Cliff Top Cafe with a traditional Devon Cream Tea. This historic Victorian railway opened in 1890. The 862 feet of track rises 500 feet with an impressive gradient of 57% providing stunning views across Lynmouth Bay. The railway is a fully working listed heritage monument is the UK's only fully water powered railway and one of only three examples left in the world.

This is a very clean well presented cliff railway with good Access for all at £3.90 for an adult return its not cheap but I guess this is mitigated by the running costs.

I too was there with the Imps, made very welcome with our parked display of cars. Fantastic views from the top. Water-power and gravity combination fascinating, spent ages watching the filling and emptying. Lovely cafe at the top. Wonderful place to visit, hope we get to go again! Allow extra time to explore Lynmouth before travelling back to the top.

This is really worth a visit. The views are fantastic and you can even take the dogs on the train with you and finish it off on the top at the cafe with either a cream tea or homemade cake scrumptious.

We visited the railway as part of our classic car weekend in Devon. It was great to be able to park our Imps at the top of the railway and enjoy the fabulous view of the coastline while enjoying lovely food and drink at the café. We walked down into Lynmouth, then took the railway back up. Great day!

We visited the railway with a group of friends in our Hillman Imps. The staff were very helpful and allowed us to park at the top near the cafe. We really enjoyed our visit and the cakes served at the cafe were delicious.
