Really well situated café, good value for money. Only one minor was that the scones for the cream tea were a little on the small side and appeared to have been, all be it very well, warmed up in a microwave.

Thank Colin W

If you visit the area - this is an excellent spot for lunch and a cream tea. The service is excellent, they accept card and you can sit in the garden, admiring the view in the sunshine! Don't miss it

So dog friendly in this area, the first coffee shop i have stopped at to sell "doggy ice creams" . Well worth a stop for coffee and a meal or snacks. You enjoy the coffee and your pet can enjoy the ice cream. Well done all of you.

Visited The Coffee Mill for the first time today after a trip to Lynmouth. Ordered 2 cream teas and was not disappointed. Service was very efficient with polite staff. Presentation of the food was immaculate which makes a difference and the fact that you get a pot each of cream and jam to go with you scones rather than ready made is a great idea. The weather wasn't great but they have a covered section outside which keeps the rain at bay. Full marks to all concerned. Would highly recommend.

So we found a table and was perusing the menu and one of the waitresses/ ? owner wiped it all down for us seeing we were new customers and choosing. The tables were about 50% full at this point. So I then and then stood in the queue to order for another 5 minutes- the order taking was exceptionally slow as the same person was making the drinks as taking the order. Staff were still serving the passing /non seated trade at the ice cream counter.
After waiting the same lady who had seen us sit etc then just came out and started slapping signs on the menu on the walls that the lunch menu was closed. She was talking to the same man taking the orders and telling him she is closing the kitchen its too busy and then proceeded to try and walk back into the kitchen with not a word to the queue of customers. So I clarified that meant that we could now not order food at which point she stopped and said she'd closed the kitchen as it was too busy. I said 'Oh OK right' and then left to go outside, gather the family and find somewhere else to eat. As I explained to my family and then also the group of 6 ladies which had also just been seated and given a menu the kitchen was now closed she followed me out saying 'If you could let me explain' I again said 'No need. you have you're closing the kitchen' which she again seemed to take offence at.... Truly baffled as to why she thought it acceptable to slap all the signs on without a word and then wonder why people are leaving when they have come to eat somewhere and cannot get something to eat. We found somewhere elsewhere which was great so alls well that ends well!

The Monday that you visited followed a massive event in Lynmouth that resembled an August Bank Holiday in terms of visitors/customer numbers, so our stock was already uncharacteristically low. Another beautiful sunny day followed, so our garden was super busy from the start. In addition, two of our nearest cafes were unusually closed which meant that we were even busier through the morning and main lunchtime rush than usual.
Because of the unprecedented numbers here on the Sunday, we were desperate for stock replenishment and supplier's lorries had still not yet arrived with us...presumably because all local businesses had been 'hammered' the previous day and the trucks were heaving with stock for us all.
By 3pm we had simply run out of many stock lines. In light of the above, we had to make an uncomfortable decision to stop taking more food orders so that we could deal effectively with the orders placed already and keep things fluid at the still, very busy counter.

We have learnt that sometimes you have to do 'something' rather than 'nothing' to rectify a difficult situation.

You mentioned that I tried to talk to you to explain/apologise for our predicament but you chose not to engage?!

I spoke personally to the other customers. Everybody was very understanding once they realised the unusual set of circumstances and consequently our challenges in working in a remote, unpredictable but beautiful village.
