The Villa Spaldi is a hidden jewel on the cliffs overlooking Lynmouth Bay. The Villa was built by Sir Thomas Hewitt in 1869 during Queen Victoria's reign. Loaded with Victorian charm, our self-contained, self-catering apartment is a delight. All the modern luxuries in our apartment yet nestled in a gorgeous home decorated from that period. Gorgeous staircase, huge stained glass windows, lovely wood paneling and large drawing room. I felt I should dress up as if on the set of Downton Abbey before I left the apartment - which by the way had fantastic views of the bay from both the bedroom and living room. Tea is served on the terrace which also has magnificent views. Cozy bar which you can access even when not attended. The nearby villages of Lynton & Lynmouth are really charming. The architecture and the quaint shops are post card-worthy. Ride the historic Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff Railway that Sir Hewitt co-founded, enjoy the breath-taking views of the coastal path to the Valley of the Rocks and beyond, or if hiking isn't your "thing" then go horse riding and let your horse do the hard work. Perfect escape, so quiet you think you are all alone. No ghosts seen yet.
