We found this on the website air b&b and it rally was great value for money. We were well looked after by Patrick and Helen who welcomed us but also left us to our own devices. The room (room 7 top floor) was perfect. It was a little tired in decoration and I have stayed in cleaner accommodation but it was full or character and just what we needed.

Your and your girlfriend's review here on Trip Adviser seems to differ to the one provided by the other booking service.

I quote verbatim:
We had a lovely stay at this guest house and we're warmly welcomed by Patrick on arrival. The room was so cosy and quiet and we really had a chance to chill. We never made it to breakfast as we had a couple of late night out listening to love music in the Barbican. If this is what you're into then the guesthouse is in the perfect location! We went through to the gin distillery and it was a two minute walk. Next time we stay in Plymouth we will definitely be looking into returning here. Thank you!

Stayed at the Mayflower for 2 nights for our daughters graduation which was literally a minute away on The Hoe. Lovely guest house, clean, comfy, great breakfast. The owners extremely helpful. Highly recommend.

We last visited in August 2013 and wanted to return again to stay for the Fireworks Championships 2016. If you want to get your preferred B&B at this time of year you really do need to book well in advance. The location of the Mayflower is fantastic for the Fireworks, a short walk back at the end of the night is a real plus, to be tucked in bed 10 minutes after the last firework is great. We had the family room which is a good size overall with a small but perfectly suitable ensuite shower room. The beds are really comfortable and all of us had a good night's sleep. All tastes catered for at breakfast with really pleasant and friendly service. Also handy location for the Barbican area would not hesitate to stay here again.

My wife and I stayed for three nights and were impressed with the quality and comfort of the accommodation and the friendliness of the staff. The full English breakfast was first class. The central location is a bonus.
