Stayed here for 3 days, we were greeted by the owner Vicki and shown around then to our room (Premium double room) the room was spacious and as a nice touch a bottle of sherry with two glasses on a table (topped up daily if used) also a fridge with fresh bottled water and a jug of fresh milk, the breakfasts were excellent and the staff extremely friendly taking time out to chat to all the guests, the bar stocked a range of local brews and spirits. Their was a bus stop just along from the hotel to get into town but stopped around 17.30 hrs but their are plenty of taxis which charge around £4.50. We used the bus to town every day of our stay and caught the ferry to Brixham only £3.00 return the first day then the bus to Paignton the next day all easily accessible from The Meadfoot Bay a lovely hotel.

Room Tip: Choose Premium or higher

Dear Terry

So pleased you enjoyed your stay with us and your sherry! Bearing in mind Meadfoot Sea Road is a quiet residential road, we're very lucky to have a little local bus stop virtually outside the hotel, so glad you were able to make good use of it as do lots of guests. It's actuallu quite surprising how many arrive by car, then leave it in our car park for the duration of their stay. 10 - 15 minute walk into town or just 3 minutes to the beach makes Meadfoot Bay ideally positioned for enjoying the best of Torquay. We hope we'll have the opportunity of welcoming you back again soon.

Best wishes from Vicki, Phil and the whole team

We booked 5 nights on the strength of the TA reviews, and like others, were a bit worried when we saw the owners had changed. However, on arrival we were warmly greeted by Luke who asked what we planned to do (walk the coastal path) and immediately went off to print off details of a walk he had done. Up to our suite on the 2nd floor, immaculate and super clean, with mini decanter of sherry (refilled daily), with huge smart bathroom with wetroom shower. Sadly, being on the 2nd floor the pressure was low, but it was always hot. Nice terrace outside for our use on good days. The road outside the hotel is quiet at night, and apart from the fridge in the room being a bit noisy, we were undisturbed. Really good breakfast choice, as others have mentioned. So, the new owners have a good place, good staff and goodwill. Hope they can personalise it to them selves when they do a makeover later this year. Only negative, we never saw the male owner at all in 5 nights, although we did speak to his very pleasant wife several times. We will return...

Room Tip: 2nd floor suite has own private terrace

Well let's start with the negative. Missing the 'male owner' might well have been an anti climax after having been taken good care of by the rest of the team! But he does promise to make up for it when you hopefully return. As you say we are very lucky to have hit the ground running with a great team. And the thought that this has all come together in such a short space of time (just over three months at time of writing), gives us a real sense of anticipation of what we hope to achieve over the coming months and years.

We really hope you will return to see what has happened next!

Best wishes from Vicki, Luke, Diana and the absent one (that's Phil).

This must be our 6 the time we have stayed at the Meadfort bay hotel , & must say it always exceeds our expectations.
After being informed it as changed owners we were a little worried , but I must say the new owners Vickie & Phil are doing a fabulous job and have excellent staff to support them in their new adventure as hoteliers.
Also a new addition is Luke the General Manager who is extremely helpful and is always on hand to help with any queries or problems but I must say we didn't have any issues at all.
The room we stayed in is a suite which is gorgeous and huge with the advantage of its own terrace which is lovely to sit out & have a drink through out the day or evening, it as since had a coffee machine which was a great addition to a coffee addict like my self, it's extremely clean and as a special treat with a small decanter of sherry which we polished of the fist night # not a big one " lol but I was surprised & to see it had been refilled the next day, nice touch.
Vicki informed us they had employed a chef to do breakfast , and I must give him a mention as although the breakfast at the Meadfort before was super , it was even better with a relaxed atmosphere plenty of fresh juice , toast , fruit and buffet cheese , cold meats the chef can make you nearly any thing hot you fancy as it's cooked to order my husband tried his American pan cakes with are delicious & I had a variation of cooked breakfast with beans # yes baked beans GREAT & the best sausage which I'm fussy about so a big for the chef and the staff that assist him.
The Meadfort is on a bit of a hill which one way leads to Torquay sea front were I think is a good 20 mins walk and good flat shoes a must the other way is the Meadfort beach which is about 10 mins and as a cafe and plenty of places to sit and enjoy the view which is breathtaking.
There are numerous places to eat in Torquay but must give Legend s a mention & The great Fish & Chips ,& also the fresh doughnut man on the pier # yummy.
So after a lovely couple of days at the Meadfort we must thank Vicki & Phil ,& all the staff , and wish them all the best & we have already booked for next year.

Dear Sylvie and Terry

As you knew the previous owners so well, you'll know it was no easy task taking on from where Caroline, Chris and Gary had left off. In fact to be honest quite daunting. So we can't tell you how much it means to us to get this very kind review. And then you've paid us the ultimate compliment of booking with us for next year so we're all somewhat chuffed. Apart that is from chef. Who is a she. But she promises to have got over it by the time you return!

Look forward to seeing you in 2018

Best wishes and thank you again from us all at MBH

We recently returned here for our fourth visit. We stayed in a signature suite ,our second time ..it was like returning home. The room with it's own private terrace is quiet, peaceful and very modern. The breakfasts are excellent with a wide range of choices. The new owners are very friendly and attentive and we feel are going to make a great success of their new venture. We had a very pleasant stay and look forward to returning again in the future.

Hi Steve

Following on in the footsteps of the lovely Water's family who put Meadfoot Bay Hotel on the map has certainly been a challenge, but one we have enjoyed every minute of so far and only been made possible by the great team we have working with us. We hope we'll have the opportunity of welcoming back very soon.

Best wishes Vicki & Phil and all at MBH
