We are a couple who are 52 and 49, but omg we felt so young at this hotel, we was by far the youngest guests there.
However, we had a very nice chilled 5 days.
The staff are excellent, and very very helpful, especially Paco who served our breakfast with a smile and great service.
The room was a little old fashioned but thats No surprise with the average age of guest. But there was VERY good wifi in each room, but that was none existent elsewhere in the hotel. The only complaint i have about our room was the shower, my wife has long hair, it was impossible to wash her hair in the shower, simply not enough pressure.
The Spa area is new, very nice and clean, we used it a lot and nearly always had it to ourselves. The gym is small and compact but could be a lot better, not even a treadmill which annoyed the wife lol. Also, there is no Bathrobes or slippers available unless you pay a small fortune for extras.
the food was very nice but at a cost.
Overall, we had a nice relaxing stay, but i DONT advice going if you are a family or of a younger generation.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room on the upper floors, otherwise you end up in the basement

Good Afternoon

I am pleased you had an enjoyable few days with us. I am delighted you found the staff helpful and I will be passing your comments to them; especially Paco. I would like to apologize about the shower in your room and I will personally be seeing to it. It is nice to hear you took advantage of our brand new spa facilities where you could unwind and relax.

I hope you come and stay with us again in the future.

Kind Regards

We booked an executive room which was much better furnished than the executive room we had earlier in the same year. The toiletries were better ( none before ) and there was a fridge in the room. We had a sea view room which was overlooked by two coaches and the hotel car park.

The hotel is frequently used by coach parties ( we would add that we have no objection to this as it comes to us all when we can no longer drive or find traveling difficult)

The hotel is very nicely furnished to a high standard and the bar lounge area and patio is on a continental style and beautifully set out.

The hotel is some distance from the centre of Torquay up very steep hills but the hotel provides a free taxi service which must be booked by 09:30 each morning with a return pickup at 16:30.

The breakfasts are excellent, we regularly had the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. The salmon quality was superb and the person who made the scrambled eggs should be congratulated as these are usually tasteless and watery in so many hotels.

The choice of starters for dinner was excellent. However, we cannot say the same for the main courses. One menu ( which was supposed to be the “New Years Eve menu on a turkey and tinsel basis” ) at which all guests were encouraged to get all dressed up for, comprised of lamb which was as tough as it was last time, sea bass which was excellent or, wait for it, sausage and mash!

The entertainment did not start until about 9:00 pm as every night for about 30 minutes there was the dreaded bingo. So, if you are an early to bed person, then possibly 30 minutes of music.

We had lunches each day in the bar lounge, a nice area to have this and the staff there are excellent and really friendly and helpful. We got to know them very quickly and had several pleasant conversations. This menu was fine but invariably had either the soup or one of the main dishes from dinner the night before.

If you are not on a coach we would recommend that you go down to dinner about an hour after the dining room opens at 18:30 as there are long queues and loud voices from the coach parties.

We only have two other “niggles” and this concerns the executive room we had. First of all the shower, there is no shelf for sponges, shampoos etc other than the floor. Not much thought has gone into this. The second, relates to the hospitality tray. There is only one sachet of hot chocolate and one packet of biscuits despite the executive room being occupied by two persons. So, if you are feeling romantic you can always share your mug of hot chocolate and packet of biscuits for togetherness!

Another lovely couple of days at this super hotel, reception gave us the actual room we requested. Good food and hydro spa excellent.

Lovely views from the front of the hotel. Just a 15 minute walk down the hill into Torquay harbour.

Booked to go here for my wife’s 30th Birthday it said it was A spa hotel and located quite close to Torquay city centre. On arrival at the hotel which was quite tricky to find. The staff in the hotel are lovely and very helpful however the clientele shall we say all of the older generation and there are stair lifts everywhere and it almost felt like a nursing home holiday.
The breakfast the following morning wasn’t great at all the cereal fresh fruit area didn’t look very appealing and was quite tasteless apparently my wife said, and I had a cooked breakfast which to be honest again was not very nice quite dry like it had been sat in one of those heaters for a couple of hours before serving.
The spa area is quite nice the steam room and sauna both work very well, there is no swimming Pools just lots of hydrotherapy pools which are basically Jacuzzis which are quite nice yet again changing facilities in the spa for old people so lots of rails and chairs and left switch don’t really make you feel very comfortable if we allowed or lady.

The rooms were very dated and our shower trickled out hot water which the Mrs was not pleased with. The walls are also very thin and I could hear lots of people talking very early in the morning as the older generation like to get up early.

In summary your better off saving money and getting a B+B much closer to the town centre.
