Very comfortable and spacious attic bedroom with all amenities. The hosts were very friendly, and provided a fine breakfast the next morning. The only drawback for those on foot is that there is a bit of a walk into Alfriston to find a restaurant..something of a challenge after hiking all day!

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front for a view across the Cuckmere valley.

Visited for 2 nights in May with mum as we were walking this end of the South Downs Way. The hosts Richard and Judy were friendly, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The room was lovely (Cuckmere Room) and spacious. Perfect to collapse into after a long walk. The breakfasts were delicious and generous and offered gluten free options. We would definitely go back.

We booked the Cuckmere Room hoping for a relaxing weekend away from London in the South Downs. We couldn't have been happier with our choice - Richard and Judy were very welcoming, gave recommendations for meals and walks and served up delicious breakfasts and homemade cookies.

We loved the tranquil setting which was only a short walk into the village. Even more, the South Downs trails were on the doorstep, so we were able to walk to Seven Sisters & Eastbourne (catching a bus back that stops in Alfriston) and various trails in the area. Looking forward to returning soon!

Richard and Judy are very helpful and friendly hosts. We had a very comfortable and spacious room, with nice amenities. The house is well maintained and very comfortable. GREAT breakfasts with wonderful fruit. The view is lovely. There is a nice lawn and garden, It is a wee bit out of the Village, with about a 10 minute walk into the Village where there are several pubs and restaurants. Eat well and walk well!

Had a really lovely stay at Riverdale House. Judy and Richard were very warm and welcoming, beautiful room with loads of amenities (mini fridge, bottles of water, kettle / tea / coffee etc), immaculate en suite, fab breakfast - great selection, beautifully presented and delicious. Best of all, they accept dogs in one of the bedrooms and Richard was great at advising on available walks, dog friendly pubs etc. Difficult to fault, we'd certainly recommend
